Since it is the offseason, I wanted to do a poll to see who posts at CF. I feel like it is mostly men under the age of 45, but I wanted to test that hypothesis.

I thought I about doing a more expansive version, but I was limited to 10 poll choices.

Williams & Blum: How much should we pay attention to Iowa State in preseason Big 12 rankings

Iowa State was recently picked to finish last in the Big 12 by a group of writers at ESPN. On today’s show, Chris Williams & Brent Blum analyze how much these preseason projections actually matter in 2026. The guys go team-by-team and give early thoughts on the Big 12, all courtesy of Mechdyne.

What % of your takehome pay are you spending on living expenses?

And when I say living expenses im talking mortgage, property taxes, and utilities. I just cant bring myself to spend over 30%. I know people who spend 50%. I always leave room for savings or for unexpected expenses. If im bringing home say 7500$ monthly im not spending more than 22-2300 on it. There's no way in hell im going to be housebroke or be a 2 month layoff away from being in deep ****.

Next CF Bracket Fast food nomination thread

Time to get these going again. April was a crazy at work with a new football regime change. Time to get these back up and going. Pre the last CF vote after Villain's is fast food. Obviously we need to discuss what encompasses fast food and if pizza places count.

Another ask for committee members always nice to get some new blood in.

New wrinkle because always looking to innovate. We normally do a non cf poll vote after submissions are closed and top vote getters represent the people. Now instead of that for those wanting a say but don't have time to be on the committee I want people to send me via pm their 1-64 and I will add them to all of the committee's members lists.

Friday Free Thread: Red or Blue Button?

Which Button?

  • Red Button

    Votes: 30 46.9%
  • Blue Button

    Votes: 34 53.1%

This was a question that I saw going around the internet, and it's a modified trolley problem. Angie asked that I it as a Friday Free Thread since she's in a meeting this morning:

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button do you press?

20 Ribeyes for $40 Scam

I should have posted this before last weekend as I saw some local media promoting this in the Des Moines area. They are still around central Iowa this weekend too I know as I saw an advertisement they are in Grimes. DO NOT fall for this scam folks! If the deal seems too good to be true it probably is. This is a good report on what you are getting and there are several others out there if you search YouTube for this. Think about it folks, I would guess these are 8oz ribeyes (if that even) so do the math on that you are paying $4/lb for it. You can't even get decent 80/20 ground beef for that at the store right now.

If you really want to save some money on beef find a local farmer that sells locker beef. Not only is the quality going to be better than what you get in the store but the price per pound you are going to come out ahead on too if you have freezer space to store a quarter of beef which comes out to around 200lbs on average.

Womens Tournament expands also

Not sure why they would do this. The women's tourney is already terrible since the top teams are so loaded and poor teams get destroyed by the top teams. Oh well. Guess I know the real reason. Money and they don't want to treat the women different. in my opinion they should have cut it down to around 48 teams.

The Beat Reporters: Donovan Davis commitment, Reliving 2002 Cy-Hawk Game, Campbell ESPN Article

The guys dig into ESPN’s article on Matt Campbell and what could’ve happened if he took the Lions job in 2021. Then the show finishes by “spinning the wheel” to tell Hutchens old Iowa State stories.
