Harold Swisher who turned 101 today. He stormed the beach at Normandy as a teen who volunteered. He fought at the Battler of the Bulge, and every major battle in Europe. He lost a toe to frostbite, but was otherwise intact at the end of WWII.

He was recognized by Senator Joe Manchin for his service at the WV capital last year on his 100th birthday. He and his 99-year-old wife, who've been married for over 70 years, still live on their own and drive. Both are still mentally all there.

Respect to your great uncle. I lost my grandpa a couple years ago; his ship was blown up on the English channel and was only 1 of 2 survivors helping save the other survivor.

Not many of these heroes left anymore unfortunately.

Very cool. That generation went through things I can't imagine. I'm glad he got rewarded with a long life and a family that appreciates his sacrifice.

Thanks for sharing your amazing story.

Awesome stuff!

By the time my grandfather was my age, he had been to 2 wars, had 5 kids, and survived the Great Depression and God knows what else.

I have two kids, and get grumpy if my bluetooth doesn't work for streaming my podcasts in my air conditioned office.

Thank you for sharing. Give him a handshake from me, please. My grandpa served in WW2 as well. He passed away in Nov 2011.

Congratulations to your great Uncle what a amazing life he has lead!
Congrats to both he and his wife 70 years is a amazing marriage.

That’s awesome! My wife’s grandma just turned 101 on Friday. Had her birthday party at a bar, same as she’s done for the last 30 or so years.
