Theory of a Deadman seems a strange band to open for Daughtry.
The reason people "hate" Daughtry is because he only got where he is because of American Idol, and the music is really cookie cutter.

I was wondering the same thing. Then reading through the thread I see American Idol mentioned and that would explain it. Never watched it, Never will. I can't change the channel fast enough if I accidently come across it.
Good musician and entertainer. Would go if I didn't have a shoot scheduled that night, and I can't move it as she's a National Guard member back on leave from Iraq.
I don't get why people love to go out of their way to rip on the guy, but it is what it is. Oddly enough, these "music elitists" are often found listening to crap like LOL Smiley Face.

I don't like Daughtry because I don't like his sound. Plain and simple. As much as I hate to admit it, at least Nickleback & Theory of a Dead Man actually have some catchy melodies, even if they are commercialized pop-rock.
Call me a music elitist, but here's how I evaluate musicians:
-Do they lip sync at concerts?
-Do they play an instrument?
-Do they write their own songs?
-Do they use Auto-tune?
Too many "musicians" these days are nothing but shiny industry creations, with good looks and zero talent. American Idol vexes me, because they fail on many of these criteria, and I know that there is legitimate musical talent out there that is better and remains undiscovered because they aren't shiny industry creations. They are doomed to toil in obscurity.

Wouldn't Daughtry pass your criteria? I don't think he is a lip syncher, he plays an instrument, not sure about the writing and I don't think he has Akon'd any of his songs that I have heard.
I haven't bought any of his music but I don't think it is bad....
i love it when people rip on a band like nickelback or in this case daughtry, but listen to dave matthews band, which is complete and utter garbage.
Nor would Neil Young or the Rolling Stones. Or the Who. Or Skynyrd. The really good bands nowadays, for the most part (there are a few exceptions) will never really get THAT popular because the industry pimps such a select few.
Thirded. Seriously, there is more good music out in the world than you could ever have time to listen to. Why waste what precious time you have listening to generic, mewly mope rock?

Yes, I believe he would, although you might be surprised at the amount of artists that use AutoTune.
I meant to add that this doesn't mean that I automatically like them if they pass my criteria, just that I won't badmouth them.:wink:
