I think CW put it best (hey, maybe I'll get a derp too, but I think he nailed it). Jantz is Favre: He can put one in the endzone on any play, and he can put one in the defense's hands on any play. Barnett isn't as flashy, but he's not as likely to make you want to gouge your eyeballs out with a dull soup spoon either.

Derp just for you.

I prefer Derp a Derp, but if Derp wants to start I'm all for that too.

I'd like to see Jantz. I think we got to see flashes of what he can do last year, with not a lot of time to learn the playbook. I'm sure that both are improved over last year, but Jantz has the stronger and possibly more accurate arm.

I think it was the speed that caused these two the most issues. Hopefully the game has slowed down enough to prevent panic. Though the UT defense I am sure will still cause serious issues.

I want accuracy, hit the receiver in stride and a long ball once in a ******* while would be nice. Anyone can scramble some to get out of trouble, so for me whoever has that and I think it is Richardson. Let the best man win period.

Well hopefully we block better against them no panic if you have time for plays to develop.

I'm holding out hope that Richardson is/will be better than both Jantz and Barnett. I expect Barnett to be the guy but the best scenario IMO is Richardson beating them out since we already know what what the baseline of Jantz and Barnett looks like.

Ruxy....Not to bash anyone, but, steele must have gotten hurt against UNI then....after all he was below 50% on the day, and finished with under 200 yards passing with 40 attempts and also made the decision that he would run the ball 20 times. That means he put the ball in his own hands 60 times....you can speculate as well as me on that quantity of touches....

But, he had 3 interceptions in those attempts, which, for the season, was about right around his average. I really liked Jantz when he would make his reads and not force it. Problem is, a player with his flare, always thinks they can make the play - even if it is a huge risk. Those risks in football usually equal points!!!!!

I only hope one of the two have matured into the position - if that happens we will be fine, both have all the tools to be not only good, but, very good/great in this scheme.

Good Luck guys.
You make good points and I can't argue with any of them. In the UNI game Steele was, IMO, visibly nervous. I hope his performance in the Iowa game was more indicative of what he's capable of.

But in the poll I voted for...DAH DAH DAH...

Neither Jantz nor Barnett!

Steele so that we can have weekly threads about clever news headlines from our W. Seriously I just want the best of the 3.

I voted for JB. Its been covered here and everywhere else that SJ has a higher ceiling but IMO it doesnt matter how high your ceiling is if you continiously have to pick yourself up off the floor.

I think the bowl game proved that the game hasnt really slowed that much for SJ. I realize he had NO TIME TO THROW and that wasnt on him. However a good-great QB might have been able to take what he sees back to the sideline and get something from the coach to beat the constant blitzes. Maybe I am placing to much of the blame on SJ but I just dont think he has the tools to settle himself and the rest of the team down.

JB is not a flashy guy but for the most part he can usually do enough with his arm and legs to move the football on a more consistent basis.

From what I have read I dont think SR has a shot to start the first game, it just doesnt sound like he is ready but then again I thought the same thing about JB last year and we all know how that worked.

I want JB to start. After the way Steele performed in the bowl game, I will be really dissapointed if he is the starter going into next year.

Well the question is who do we WANT to be QB not who we THINK is going to be QB so I would say SR because that means he had one hell of a spring game and outplayed the 2 QB's we have already seen play!

Interesting question. My honest answer is whoever the coaches think will do the job the best.

If you want to get more complicated, I will say Steele--because I'm pretty sure that the only way he gets it is if he eliminates the mistakes. So, with "no mistakes" a given, the answer has to be Steele.

I went with derp, derp, goose

However, if Jantz can improve on his critical thinking during a game he should be our QB. He has more potential, and the ability to make things happen when they shouldn't.
