I pick Jantz, unless Barnett ends up being better than him come fall then I pick him, and if Richardson is better than both of them I choose him.

Jantz. Brings more excitement to the game. Barnett may have the team's respect more but Steele can take over the game by himself. Is escapability was huge in the 1st two games and I think that UCONN injury really hampered him the rest of the year. That is something that Barnett does not have.

Whoever it is needs to hang onto the ball. The amount of fumbles last year was outrageous.

Yes Steele had some bad throws last year but he also made a couple of AMAZING throws.

Theres an actual answer for you OP. Instead of the normal "whoever gives us the best chance" garbage. No ***** thats who you want at QB but the question was asked to pick 1.

Appreciate it.

Agree we need to work on ball control. I think Steele may be better in a simplified offense we are supposed to be running this year.

I think we're all supposed to pick a favorite QB for some reason. I pick Jantz because Jantz rhymes with pants, and I wear pants, which I assume makes us bff's.

I think the OP is just assuming that both QBs (maybe all 3) are equal right now, hence no starter being named. So based on what you've seen so far out of them, who would you want taking the field for the opener and why?

Since there is no option for D) a better QB, I guess I'll say Barnett because I feel like he can learn to turn it over less. Let's face it, both of these guys were bottom of the barrel Big 12 QBs last year, so someone's going to have to improve greatly to get us over the 6-7 win hump.

Jantz has a higher ceiling IMO and therefore I would like to see him start. Like last year, if he struggles with turnovers we can always turn to Barnett. Also just my opinion, but I think Mess favors Barnett and CPR likes Jantz.

Id like to see Barnett, Jantz is athletic but stupid with the ball and forces passes, he's not the best at reading coverages in my opinion. It'd be interesting to see what Sam could do as well.

I think I would rather have JB since it seemed that he could move the ball better than SJ. I think that SJ is probably the better athlete but would not make the best decisions in games. I am not sure how much of this might have been due to health.

This is how I feel now, but I will have a lot better idea after the spring game.

Whoever gives us the best chance to win, but...

I'm not basing this on any facts, I just have a feeling Steele's injury bothered him more than we know and we've yet to see the best he can do.

For me - the qb position of this team needs to be whoever can complete the required passes....the completion percentage is a clever statistics, but, from the games i saw last year, i thought Barnetts third down completion percentage in tough games was better.

To me, thats what won us the games we won down the stretch - extra opportunities to score....we know that we will not be listed in the top 25 defenses year in and year out like say alabama. Therefore, you better be able to score or you will find a lot of L's on your schedule.

So, for me, its barnett. However, i hope his lil outing in NYC gave him a wake up call...if he's focused on the job at hand, and keeps his head on straight, he will be fine. If he gets caught up and starts to stray, then it will be a repeat of NYC....

how that game could have been different had Barnett hit Lenz on the wide open crossing route at the 19....we would not have seen Steele imo and we would have been in a position to win that game rather then struggle the remainder of the game.

Good Luck Mess and Coach Rhoads, this will be something the team will need to move into the fall - A starter, let the best man win....but #2 better be ready!!!

What do I want? I want Steele to put it all together, harness all of his athletic ability, and lead the offense, both running and passing, to unseen heights.

What are we likely to get? I think Barnett has a better grasp of the QB position as a whole and he showed it on the field last year. In games where he played well he did so by executing the offense at a high level rather than improvising and depending on the posibility of a spectacular play which may or may not come.

I personally like both QBs and what they bring to the team. I think if we have a solid defense this year, an efficient QB like Barnett will be their best friend. Jantz had some great heroics last year, but he needed spectacular plays because of boneheaded plays he made earlier in the game.

If Jantz could light it up all game and not just after already digging a hole, we could score a LOT of points. I just don't know if he can correct his mistakes in his last year or not.

Barnett has been solid and pretty consistent. The offense seems to run better as a whole with him in. The running game clicked with him and we seemed to have more sustained drives, even if they didn't all lead to points. I think another year getting stronger and having an even better grasp onthe playbook will make Barnett a very solid QB. He might not chuck it 40 yards and light it up, but he also might not chuck it 40 to the opposing safety.

So what I want, is for both QBs to go out and kick *** and give CPR an incredibly tough time making his decision. Then we can take it to the opposition.
