Something like yes I am moving onto the NBA and Im looking into some positions. Or no I will remain ISUs head coach going forward. Pretty Simply. What ever the truth is. The Truth is easy, to many people complicate it.

This. You articulated what I was trying to get at, but did it much better. If you simplify everything, it is pretty easy. Just be honest and forthright with us, as Iowans we are a pretty understanding group.

Under normal circumstances, I woulda been melting down like the rest of you, but I'm wiped out from being the dad of a 1 year old. I have no energy to even be worked up about this. Besides if FH leaves, JP will be able to reel in a big time coach as a replacement.

I disagree on being able to reel in a big time coach. At this point especially.

Im with you. I definitely do not like the way this is being handled by our ICON. Not at all. Im all about just being straight up honest. And while he hasn't been dishonest, no one is being straight forward. Not how l personally do anything in personal life or business.

Everyone in the sports world continues to hide behind not wanting to make headlines. The I personally feel its very uncomfortable and don't want to talk about it. Or the "our current coach isn't tech fired yet." Come on, don't treat everyone like a bunch of idiots.

So if you are thinking of leaving your current job, but haven't decided yet and don't have any firm offers, you are still 100% forthcoming with all your co-workers and customers about your status? No one would do that.

and if he hasn't decided yet?

Then just release a statement saying that he is considering his options and discussing them as a family. Some might meltdown, but the majority will appreciate his honesty. It is a tremendous opportunity and most people would take time to contemplate the options.

You want Fred to speculate about someone else's job? Do you make office wide announcements that you don't want Becky's job? Or that when they fire Bill you fully intend to take his position? Why do you expect Fred to do this?

One thing about how long this is being drawn out is that it seems like a lot of people have already gone through the 5 stages of grief with losing Fred. So, when it's officially announced, most fans will be like "Finally. Now, lets move on" verses having all of this happen within 1 or 2 days and we're all blindsided like "WTF. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"
At least that's what I'm thinking.

Now, if Fred somehow decides to come back it'll be like we just won the lottery. Otherwise, I just want to get this over with.

Isnt that what he is saying by not talking? Honestly, if he was 100% staying he'd have said so by now. At best he's considering, at worst he's already gone.

You asked so I will share my own personal experience. I had a great job, stand-up boss, and loyal co-workers. after 3 years into the job, I got a chance to purchase my own business closer to home. Once I decided it was a good option, I immediately told him and my current staff. I knowingly did this because I felt the sooner everyone new the better they could find my replacement and we started informing clients soon after this discussion. Now i didn't have the new business finalized or negotiated. If it would have fell through, the downfall is I would have had to find a new job because my old position would have been filled. But I didn't think it was the right thing to do to just use this place as my fall back if what I truly wanted didn't pan out. I know this isn't comparing apples to apples, but I think we forget honesty really makes things simple.

But how many employers would let this go on? I worry about the damage to ISU the longer this drags on. I assume JP is working like crazy but ultimately Fred is not more important than ISU. JP has to do what is best for ISU, NOT FRED.

That's not the same. You didn't speculate one way or the other about someone else's job. You talk about honesty but Fred isn't lying to anyone by not saying anything.

I think I just figured out the Pollard smoke screen! JP and CW are in cahoots. The deafening silence is driving traffic to CyFan, and CW is getting rich from clicks. JP is getting a cut and some CF coupons.
