We're devouring everyone right now. Starting a thread is just standing yourself up as the target. Starting a thread on a topic that's beaten to death makes you an easy mark.

I can't say I didn't expect it, but I will point the question directly to you then. Are you at all losing any respect for the way Fred is choosing to handle this? Me personally the answer is yes. Ready go

Playing it smart with all the silence. Waiting to see the offers come in. Talking it over with Carol, Paige, Jack, Sam, and Charlie. Waiting for the right time to announce. I bet he will be informing all his players probably within the next week.

I just hope he crushes it in the NBA and becomes a rockstar their if he leaves. I hope with Rose, Noah, Gasol, Hinrich, Gibson, Butler, and McDermott that he does some great things. I definitely only want to see him at the Bulls. I hope he doesn't leave Ames to coach for Pelicans, Magic, or TWolves.

That being said, I know he may still be recovering, but a little tweet to either calm us down or confirm what Pollard is saying would be of much relief.

He will still be the Mayor of Ames, but hopefully he can also become the Mayor of Chicago.

Just assume it's happening and they're trying to negotiate a complicated situation.

If he stays then it's a nice surprise. ( most likely because Thibs ends up staying).

You're losing respect for someone who hasn't publically stated that he wants a job (and would accept a job) that somebody else currently has.

Would you go to your boss tomorrow and tell them that you will be leaving your job as soon as you get an offer that you are expecting from another company, and that they should start advertising for your replacement.

He can't say he's interested in a job that's not open. If he was staying no matter what he could come out and say he won't pursue any open NBA positions though. Frankly I don't blame him for not saying anything. I don't know what he'd say unless he had zero interest in leaving. Some coaches in the past have said they were committed to a school then left too, and if Fred were to do that then he'd really tick a lot of people off.

My take, which is meaningless, is that he had open heart surgery on 4/17 and if there wasn't all this speculation about him going to the Bulls, he still wouldn't be talking to the media either way. My impression was we were gonna hear nothing from him until June at the earliest due to the surgery. I know it sucks that all these rumors are flying around. But really, he doesn't need to talk. He needs to take care of his health. When he is ready to get back to work, then yeah, I'd expect answers. But he isn't. So really, now isn't the time to begrudge him. If your frustrated, just drink more but please don't drive. And that's it.

Guys,
I apologize for another thread about an overhyped topic. I wanted to know what everyone thought about Hoiberg's continued silence. I was like most in the fact that if Fred was going to leave for the NBA, I would be disappointed but always understood it was a possibility. However, the longer this drags on, the more I find myself starting to lose some respect for the Mayor. I can't begrudge him for wanting to pursue his dream, but if that is what he wants to do then just come out and say it. Let everyone come to grips with it, mourn, and move on. If he intends on staying then say it. I think the longer this goes on the less fondly we or at least I will think of Fred. Just wondered if anyone else was thinking the same or if anyone had some thoughts on why he would choose this course.

The silence speaks for itself. As for losing respect for Fred? Absolutely not. As Pollard said, "Some people need to step off of the ledge."

Everything is being kept under wraps.

I am guessing Hoiberg told Pollard from day 1 that he is using this as a stepping stone to the nba. Pollard knew this and figured what the heck. Locals will love him and what do we have to lose. If he is successful ill make the decision on who will be coach in the future.

It's only silence if you aren't listening. I think he is saying pretty loudly everything except, "I'm positive I'll be at ISU next season."
