The Big XII can get ****ed as far as I'm concerned. The officiating is absolute garbage and Bowlsby is backing it up. What a crock of ****.

Do you deal with the league office and Walt Anderson?

This. Who knows what else went on in those meetings. For all we know it might have gotten pretty heated. K-State and Kansas could have also benefited from keeping the game at 7 refs, but were too chicken **** to vote against it and possibly anger the southern schools.

I'd expect nothing less from the Big12. They have to back their officials and fine JP because it's in the rules that you can't publicly berate officiating. They did what they had to do.

The real question is, are they actually looking at how bad the calls on the field/reviews have been.

I was disappointed to hear that was our single vote, but it makes sense coming from a defensive-minded coach. The official was pretty much just added to place the ball and call late hits on the QB, which do nothing to help the defense. At least the 8th ref they tried out in the NFL was going to help with holding penalties.

Walt has said they've already had trouble with that 8th official starting play too early at the start of drives, and not allowing defenses to substitute to match personnel.

I'll preface this by saying I don't think it had any impact on the outcome of the game (including final score), but when watching the Baylor game this year I remember thinking the spotting of the ball looked outside the original intent of the game. When you have officials going down the field at a full sprint and offensive players throwing the ball to the middle of the field to be spotted it just struck me as odd.

I remember discussions a couple of years ago about the ball being rushed to be spotted in end of half situations and the response from officials was that the ball should be spotted in an efficient manner but no faster than in normal game action (I also vaguely remember that type of situation having a negative impact on us once during that time period). The Baylor game seemed to take it a step further where it was not the game situation that was causing officials to rush spotting of the ball, but whether or not the offense was running a jet tempo offense/hurrying to the line of scrimmage. When Baylor was running a more traditional pace the official spotting the ball went back to a standard tempo for spotting the ball.

Every fan base of every team that loses a game thinks the refs suck. It's "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" any more.

While we're on the subject of refs, has there ever been investigations into the state of residence or the alma mater of the officials in the big12? While I understand that there are four Texas schools in our conference it seems there are a disproportionate number of officials with southern accents. Are there requirements to have 10% from Iowa and 20% from Kansas? And if not, why? It seems that there should be rules preventing a Texas native from officiating games involving Texas schools.

ISU has been screwed by officials long before the vote. Long before JP came to ISU.

We have literally gotten letters of apology for officiating gaffs. That's more than most schools who complain about calls.

I will fully admit that we don't have a good football team this year, but does that mean that calls should go against us that often?

So... nothing about "irrefutable evidence"? That's about what I expected.

I thought JP should have asked for the video replay that shows indisputable evidence of a TD. That should have been the full extent of his statement. Show me the replay and I'll pay the fine.

Did we really need someone who graduated from Texas to be in charge of the Refs? Honestly, Walt and Bowlsby have issued apologies and not corrected anything. Had Jamie not said anything they may have said the call was controversial, but they can't admit wrongdoing when called out like this.

The reffing on the field needs to get better, and that's Walt's responsibility. It's BS that he gets insulated from criticism by the league.

If there are 8 officials, then how in the hell was the holding call by the DB covering Bibbs not called on the early 3rd & short, play-action play? Think I am as ****** about that play as the review overturning the call on the field right before half.

As to the state of residence it wouldn't matter because one of the main culprits that has screwed ISU is from Iowa.

Yeah they wont do that. It calls into question the integrity of the refs and that's not fair to them.

I don't care where they are from. Honestly it doesn't matter if they are from TX or South Carolina. The bias seems to go toward the team that's "supposed" to win, regardless of where that school is from.

I just think they should be held accountable for terrible effing calls. If the conference has to apologize to a school for a call that you made, you should be suspended without pay for at least one game.

This is also probably the case with the OSU game on Saturday. The reply booth official probably said "I know the damn gum guys on the field say it isn't a touch down, but Y'all, I saw a touchdown"

Until then, butt out of our business.
