If anyone has friends that want to go to games, picking up a couple hillside tickets might not be such a bad idea...

Wow. How times change.

I remember going with my uncle when I was a kid to the Mizzou game in '04 where if we won we would go to the Championship game. We ended up losing in overtime. I had no idea what that meant or what was going on I just thought it was awesome to be at the game.

Looking it up there were 40,626 for that game. And we already had 6 wins.

You forgot to mention that the wind chill was 22 degrees with a wind of 25 to 35 mph and it was alternately raining and sleeting. I'm not surprised more didn't come out for the game. My wife still is mad at me for dragging her to that game.

I think the SEZ seats along with that jumbo scoreboard would be awesome. I'd definitely buy tickets there.

Yeah it was cold as balls. Probably why I got a ticket.

No kidding. My parents will never go to an actual football game anymore partly because of that game; That Mizzou game was the first football event they've attended and they about froze to death and didn't get to enjoy the game at all. Later that year, I told them, "Ok, maybe we should go early in the season, so it's not cold". The next year they went to the opening game with me and about died of heat stroke as it was about 100 degrees and a mid-day game. After those two experiences they've always watched all football games from the heated or cooled comfort of their home, Lol. Hey, I tried. I will be there cold, hot, rain, shine, snow, whatever, because I am a Cyclone Fanatic!

For sure. It was just a few years ago that hitting 30k was a big goal for the program.

If there was a 40,000 season ticket thermometer on the athletics department website we would already have hit this goal.

All i know is last week sure looked a lot different then the games i went to as a kid during the Walden era, or when I was a student during the McCarney era. makes me almost emotional to look around and see the place so full for a game against Tulsa. in the past the only games that were that full were Nebraska, Iowa, and UNI. and 20% to 40% the fans were from the opposing team.

I remember telling my brother last year before the Iowa game started that we had already won. not the game at the time, just the enthusasim and crowd. it was probably 47-49,000 ISU fans and 4 or 6,000 Iowa fans. I said "remember what this place used to look like during Iowa games, used to make me want to puke".

Another thing to take note of- in past years they had counted mini-packs i believe. We're at the almost 40k mark, and yet this year's mini-packs just went on sale today, so that number doesn't include them.

Terrific point. 40k including mini-packs would have seemed like a solid accomplishment, but 40k of legit full season tickets is awesome.

..... bowl it in.

That is huge.
Kind of hard to doubt that there's a lot of excitement around here. I hope we get 40k and surge right on past it. Phenomenal!

The big thing is, when it comes time to do the end zone, when the financial aspect is taken care of the project should sail through smoothly, with nobody being able to question whether there is demand for it.
