Wow. How times change.
I remember going with my uncle when I was a kid to the Mizzou game in '04 where if we won we would go to the Championship game. We ended up losing in overtime. I had no idea what that meant or what was going on I just thought it was awesome to be at the game.
Looking it up there were 40,626 for that game. And we already had 6 wins.
You forgot to mention that the wind chill was 22 degrees with a wind of 25 to 35 mph and it was alternately raining and sleeting. I'm not surprised more didn't come out for the game. My wife still is mad at me for dragging her to that game.

If anyone has friends that want to go to games, picking up a couple hillside tickets might not be such a bad idea...
Yeah it was cold as balls. Probably why I got a ticket.
If there was a 40,000 season ticket thermometer on the athletics department website we would already have hit this goal.
For reference, here is a thread from 2008 where most were happy that we beat the previous record of 30,728 (from 2006).

Another thing to take note of- in past years they had counted mini-packs i believe. We're at the almost 40k mark, and yet this year's mini-packs just went on sale today, so that number doesn't include them.
