I agree that the students add to the atmosphere, but a student "football only" ticket costs $150, but the seats the athletic department really wants to sell are the $500 and up donor seats with hopes of several hundred if not several thousand dollars in donations to the department.

There has to be balance, and I think there currently is.

And my daughter missed out on the student ticket because (gasp!) she does not really care about football. She does eat my food at my tailgates, though. Takes after her mother.

Not trying to argue, but if you don't start going as a student your never coming back as an alumni. (for the most part there are always exceptions)

I logged in to see how many single game iowa tickets there were for public sale. I counted like 13. and it was down to 2 in about 15 seconds.

Resale tickets are now available and there are many options.

I'm not sure if that information is available. A person could count the number in each section. I did read that for students to get tickets to the kansas basketball game they need to physically claim a GA student ticket starting in October and the window goes to mid November. So they must over sell at least for basketball. I assume they do for football as well.

It used to be 7k, but Im not sure that is accurate anymore. I'm not sure how long ago that was but I remember that number at some point, I think they have added a few sections of students.

Fortunate to be a Cyclone when I see a Pac12 teams season ticket sales. I would say we are at about the same level as we played them in a bowl last year.

Dang, I knew they didn't have a big season ticket base but didn't realize it was that small. Like was mentioned before I'm guessing most of their alums don't stay around the Palouse area and it's not an easy place to get back to for games.

Still only 14k? Baylor was recently at 28k, TCU is around the same.

That’s insane.

Its understandable though. Pullman is a small town about half the size of Ames, kind of out there in the middle of nowhere so getting there every week might suck unless you actually live in pullman, and they havent been historically all that great.

Waco has 130k people living in it to draw from (plus its texas), TCU is in the DFW area.

Since I evidently have nothing better to do today, updated:

239 total left, 17 at the non-donor level. People must be realizing it's cheaper to buy season tickets than buy the resell tickets on Ticketmaster for just the TOE game.
It would be a real shame, if we came that close, and didn’t make 45K.

If we are within a couple hundred, JP will find some businesses or donors to buy the rest. He is itching to publicize that 45k number.

I wonder what the absolute maximum number of season tickets are available for sale each year? 50k? Stadium seats 61,500 so my simple-minded thought is that somewhere around 60,000 or so should be the max, but I am unsure how many tickets have to be made available to visitors. And I suppose several thousand seats are held back for group purchases from businesses.....part of the corporate tent sales and such.

Thoughts?

I think that at some point Jamie makes a guesstimate of just how many season tickets he might be able to sell, and sets aside that number so that he can sell the rest as single game.

I think he’d be quite happy to sell 50 or 55K in season tickets if he could, and not have to worry about as many single game seats.

If he could sell 60K? Can you say ”North End Zone Expansion”? :)
