Too much blame goes to AA, not enough to the poor WR play on this team.

Add in a crappy Right side of the Oline and its not easy playing QB for ISU.

It's almost always true that the QB gets too much credit for wins and losses. However, with the physical tools AA has, he should be playing much better. Unfortunately he makes bad throws and poor decisions against good defenses. He hasn't been able to handle pressure from a defense or good backfields. I think it's been more of a head issue and I don't have any reason to believe it will change this year. I hope I'm wrong.

i will be optimistic here. AA got a slap in the face and maybe he is ready to prove something.

Re: BENCH AR-choke-NAUD (BUILD FOR FUTURE.. NOWWWWWWWW)

I am sick of this! Put Tiller in, clearly we are not winning this game. Let's sit Arnaud down and maybe for the rest of this season this year. HE is just BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!

Austen didn't comment much on his failure, did he? If he did, could someone post the links here? I want to hear what he has to say about his performance.

Also, I do not blame the coaching staff AT ALL for our poor sluggish performance on Saturday. This is a young team and it will grow. However, Austen needs to outperform everyone on this team - meaning he absolutely needs to grow up and grow up really really fast during this last season as a QB or we are in it for a world of hurt. Obviously, the coaching staff is still depending on Austen. I wish they put a different QB in.

I haven't read through this whole thread, so I apologize if someone else has brought this up, but I don't think there's any guarantee that Tiller is our starting quarterback next year. Tiller was brought in by the previous regime, and I have a feeling that our OC may want one of "his guys" next year. I don't think Herman has ever been in love with Arnaud, and Tiller may just be more of the same.

Actually that would be a record worth searching for. I highly doubt there is such a QB in Big 12 or Big 10 history who is as bad as Austen Arnaud with 6 interceptions in 1 game or even 5 interceptions in 2 games.

Is Tiller not a spread offense type QB? I thought he makes better decisions and in a hurry. Please elaborate.

Stanzi, the starting QB for the Hawks, threw 5 interceptions in ONE game last year, I believe. Stanzi looked razor sharp against the Clones.

You weren't an athlete, were you? Sometimes athletes have bad days.

I guess I haven't seen enough of Tiller to make the determination of whether or not he makes quicker, better decisions than Arnaud. The Nebraska game he made one great play, then avoided making mistakes the rest of the game. Did he play the A&M game, too? That was just a disaster and I listened to it on the radio, so that doesn't help, either. I don't have any inside information. Everybody is just making the assumption that Tiller is the "heir-apparent". Nothing against Tiller, I just wouldn't be surprised to see one of Herman's recruits (Barnett, maybe?) have a good shot at starting next year, or at least seeing some considerable playing time.

Ya they do, but he has had a lot of bad days if you ask me. Ya stanzi won that game where he had 5 interceptions...makes me sick

Arnaud looked like a deer in the headlights out there. Why CPR didnt put Tiller in, in the beginning of the 4th is beyond me? On TV Arnaud looked scared and like he didnt even want to be out there. Bad play out of Arnaud and even worse coaching out of CPR doesnt bode well for the rest of the season. If we continue to play like we did on Saturday we wont win another game.

The thing is I'm not sure that Tiller gives us any better chance to win than Arnaud does. They are very similar players IMO, Tiller probably runs the ball a little better but that's about the only noticable difference I think. It's 1 game, let's move on and forget about it, hopefully that is the mentality the team is taking this week too.

I think Arnaud should continue to start, but the decision to keep him in there beyond midway through the 3rd is just inconcievable. The game was getting out of hand, Arnaud had no confidence and the only thing keeping him the entire game did was crush any confidence the kid had remaining. Putting Tiller in atleast would have relieved Arnaud from a situation he obviously didnt want to be in, it also would have given Tiller some good experience in a hostile environment. The decision to leave Arnaud in was a bad one.

If I had a bad day like Arnaud does almost every other game and EVERY game played against Iowa, I would come to my coach and say "BENCH ME". Bringing a team down with my down times is selfish. You need to play as a team and do whatever works best for the team, not you.

And yes, Arnaud looked like a fool - much like a deer in the middle of highway 30 when people are going 70 mph. Embarassing!!!

I understand your point, but throwing a backup in against Iowa is not exactly going to boost anyone's confidence. It would be embarrassing for Austen and whoever the backup would have been would likely have had his confidence crushed by Iowa's D. I definately feel Austen deserves a good deal of criticism, but we were getting crushed in all aspects of the game. A backup would not have had any luck. I'm sure he left Austen in against Iowa's backups to try to get something positive going at the end. As it is, ISU did score at the end of the game. Maybe that will help keep spirits up for K-State.

All that being said, if Austen lays an egg Saturday, it's time to make a change for sure.

Actually I would think hard about him putting him in. Arnaud is playing aweful and he hasn't thrown his interceptions yet.

:biglaugh: I'm not sure if Arnaud should be pulled yet but I found this post halarious. The timing of it is perfect.
