Then why isn't he starting? AA is starting because he is the best QB on the team, if you think he is terrible then I would be more worried about our backups because by definition that would make them worse than terrible. Everyone wants a new QB, but the reality is the backups aren't any better. These coaches aren't going to not play someone who is clearly better.

Think next year, yes I am serious.

I am surprised that we did not give Tiller some reps midway through the game. AA looked like he had deer in the headlights most of the game.

No actually sitting the bench and not playing for 3 years AT ANY POSITION WITH IS SPEED AND MOVES... is more heart breaking to him then any!!!! and not playing in garbage time does not say much for his future in ISU @ any position. ISU does not have that much talent and u leave speed on the bench for 3 years.... So why ???

not trying to argue with anyone just explain why speed is left on bench for any position or any trick play???

No clue!

You can't tell me he would not have broken at least 1 LONG run today.

Even with that, I do believe they would have gotten smoked today.

you did not read my reply correct... i agree with u for him on the field....i am asking why is he not used @ all for any position for anything...... that is what I am saying has to be heart wrenching for him not to be even given a shot in garbage time @ all!!! I like the kid and he has wheels...why do the coaches not use him for something????

I'm guessing ONLY because he is the backup QB and if AA goes down, he is the man. I think I would roll the dice and do it.

How bad is Tiller if he can't beat out AA? If AA is our best option to win now I am a little scare of our QB situation.

Get some perspective you whiners. AA just faced one of the best teams in all of college football, and top 5 defenses, on their home field. It's not like this loss happened against SDSU or K-State, even.

If ISU had some other teams preseason schedule, like say...KU, we'd be kicking more *** and not even considering benching AA in favor of Tiller.

We'll get there, but not facing 4 top 10 teams, not yet.

While AA was horrible today, there was no reason to put Tiller in. Tiller is not the future ISU QB. If we are stuck with him as our starter next year we will be in for a long season.

It is obvious that AA has consistent accuracy problems when throwing down field. The reason his completion percentage is kinda OK is because they throw so many bubble screens and short passes to the running backs behind the line (which they abandoned today and will go back to next week in KC). His tendancy to force throws into tight coverage is his biggest fault and it is not because of the "3 coaches in 5 years" excuse. He has played enough under fire to have solved that issue by now. Watch an NFL QB sometime, most of the time after they throw...they get nailed. Iowa is VERY GOOD. This game was over at the end of Iowa's second position, the fans, coaches, announcers and most of all the players all knew it. The reason they stuck with AA the whole way was to score a TD against the Hawks so they could get that out of the media's attention next year in Ames. Rhoades and Herman did not recruit AA or Tiller and are struggling with what they have available. I also think AA having grown up in Ames really kills himself over this game and it shows. I hope the fans do not get on him personally, he has worked very hard and probably is getting all he has to offer. Coaches want to win and he is our best shot or they would be playing someone else, believe me. We are 1-1 and lost by about the same to Iowa both years under CPR...save your anxiety for two weeks. Building a program is not easy.

Perspective? Did you watch the game? He had bad throws and bad reads while having time to throw. AA's mishaps where on him not Iowa's D. If he was being rushed or hit everytime it would be a differenct story, but lets call a spade a spade - he's not very good.

He can play and practice at two positions. Heaven forbid, he could do just as well as our other receivers. He is very athletic in the air.

Money looked like our best receiver today.

I agree with you on TILLER but............

if he would get hurt and then AA goes down.......then what???
Pull a student out of the crowd who played 3A high school football in Iowa 2 years ago???

Although with the way AA looks, you may be right. What do we have to lose!
