$100 says the woman behind me will say "Tiller." Pretty sure she called for him last year, some time.

Personally, I'm for Barnett. Good player, smart. Remember, he was awfully 'green' last year

Just looking for opinions. If I wanted coach speak I could ask Rhoads this question.

Its not coach speak. The fact is, very few here have seen enough of how theyre currently playing to judge. One could say things based on last season, but that would completely ignore any offseason improvements that have been made.

Personally, I like Barnett. He looked like crap in the bowl game, but I still think he played better in the five games he started than Jantz did in the seven he started.

Barnett seems to have the players respect, which means a lot. He might not be quite as athletic as Jantz, but I think he's overall the better QB as a sophomore than Jantz is as a senior.

In a simplified offense it seems to me that Barnett has an advantage. We are Iowa State and we still need to control the ball with long drives and the fewest amount of turnovers possible. Jantz had the most problems when we got to playing good defenses because they made him pay for improvising. I'm not sure that changes much. That said, if he's healthy and more comfortable in the trimmed offense then maybe he doesn't ad lib as much. As stated above, none of us really know. Rhoads and Mess will make the right call. I am looking forward to Richardson at some point given CPR's comments.

No, I got people that are too cool to give opinions so they give the typical canned response.
I think you got people who are smart enough to realize that any of the 3 could be the QB and that we don't have near enough information to know who that will be.

But I want Steele because he's the cutest.

Jantz. Brings more excitement to the game. Barnett may have the team's respect more but Steele can take over the game by himself. Is escapability was huge in the 1st two games and I think that UCONN injury really hampered him the rest of the year. That is something that Barnett does not have.

Whoever it is needs to hang onto the ball. The amount of fumbles last year was outrageous.

Yes Steele had some bad throws last year but he also made a couple of AMAZING throws.

Theres an actual answer for you OP. Instead of the normal "whoever gives us the best chance" garbage. No ***** thats who you want at QB but the question was asked to pick 1.
