Mild spoilers.
Ellie is growing overtime to trust Joel less, and that's changing her behavior. That'll build more later.

At the end of last season, Joel and Ellie went to a hospital, did some stuff, then went back home unsatisfied. Joel told Ellie that there was no cure or anything she could help with. That hospital was a Firefly facility. The remaining few from that facility are now upset at them, to say the least.

I was also trying to remember the therapist connection... I think her husband got bit and Joel put him out of his misery, maybe? I could be off on that one.

Adding to that, game spoilers

In the game, we later see that she had gone back to SLC to get answers about what happened there due to those doubts, sometime between the events of the first and second game. Ellie confronts Joel and he confesses what actually happened.

They were beginning to repair things towards the start of the game, we later see through flashbacks.

Feel like that was an all timer of a tv episode. There were a lot of ways they could have softened it and if anything they pushed it a bit further.

Cant wait to see the reactions from people who haven’t played the game.

That's me.

Wow...just don't really know what to write. That was so quick and brutal. And so well done all around from the cast to the direction and the production team.

Prestige TV at its best and most heartbreaking.

I have not played the game somehow.

I've probably been conditioned to much by some other oft mentioned books and shows killing characters, but really did not expect him to die until the club shaft was in his neck. That was a well executed episode and caught me off guard with how early in the season it was, and how quickly it happened in one show.

I do feel a little lost though, because I'm not sure I have the same investment now that I did before. I will see it through because there have been some amazing episodes based on other characters, but damn.

Yeah, just really bitter over the casting.
Those are the best. “You didn’t get a perfect carbon copy of this character. How dare you!”

I assume they’re whining about Dever’s muscles, as I saw a side-by-side post comparing her to the character she was playing on X before the season started.

But all I’ll say, is she freakin crushed that last scene. One of the best acted performances in a show that I can remember

Now that Joel is dead, I'm not sure what else there is that will keep me watching. I find Abby and the other girl really forced and annoying. Joel was the one character and actor I really liked. Will see I guess, but if the young girls are the main characters from here I can't see me watching much longer.

This is the story now. The first game and show was from his perspective, and now we get the next set from her perspective...kind of.

The events in the show so far are accurate to the second game -- that all happened within the first hour or two of gameplay. There's a very long road ahead.

The same people who complained about how big Abby's muscles from the game are the same people who hate how little muscle Dever's has. They just want a reason to hate women.
