man I never thought I would ever say this, but if Sage started I would actually root for the vikings.

I feel so dirty just saying that, but he is one of my all time favs from ISU.

I like sage but if you think he will take the vikings to the SB your high as a kite

They were division champs with arguably the worst starting qb play in the NFL. Sage is definitely an upgrade over GF or TJ, imo. Now I can roll my love of the Clones and Vikes (and of course, a heartbreaking sports life) into one beautiful thing...

Terrific upgrade for the Vikes. You don't think they know what they are getting? They tried last year, and finally got him this season. Viking fans are pumped!

IMO, the key "phrase" there, as this is highly debatable.

Stats support the other side.

I've watched Ferrotte and TJack play. ALOT. I've seen the Vikings lose games because the QB play was brutal. Sage really got piled on after that Indy game, but outside of that, from what I've seen, he's played a lot better than those 2. He's more accurate/consistent than Jackson, and more mobile than Ferrotte (who also threw a lot of bad picks). As a Vikes fan I'm more excited that we're getting a legitimate upgrade at the QB position, for a VERY reasonable price than I am that we're getting a Cyclone. It's just gravy...

They traded for a backup QB on a bad team who doesn't have a great QB ahead of him.

Have the ticket, watched a heap of football. I saw TJack get better in many respects.

I saw Sage continue to make the same errors again and again. Love Sage, but I throw a lot of caution out there to those thinking he's going to show up and somehow automatically correct these issues.

Don't agree on this. Watched all the Viking games and many of the Houston games. Sage is a perfect fit for the Vikings. The West Coast offense needs a QB who is very accurate on the short passes. That is Sage. And he can throw the bomb. And if he can hand the ball off, that takes care of half the offense with Adrian. Not sure why the negative, but I've wanted the Vikes to get him for a couple of years. TJ won't be the man, can't read the defenses.

If Trent Dilfer can win a SB, then I'd say just about anyone can. The Vikings have a good D and a very strong running game. They definitely need another WR, but Sage won't be asked to win games by himself like he was in Houston.

Looks like I have a new second favorite team after the Rams. TJack is terrible.

At times, Sage can do those things effectively. At other times, and the factual data proves this (sorry, I remove the emotion from my argument here), that he does not do those things well. And many times, it's at a critical point in the game.

As noted by someone else earlier in the thread, Sage makes too many rookie mistakes.

It's not negative, it's fact.

Amen to this. If there was a stat for pocket presence, TJack would be somewhere near the bottom of the league.

I think all the vikes need is an accurate short passer, and someone who can think his way through a game. To me, Sage would be a nice upgrade from either Gus or TJ in that regard. When TJ is in there, secondaries DARE him to beat them. Its embarrassing to watch. If Sage can't beat him out, I'd be shocked. Obviously, I am biased towards Sage....and I'm excited to see what happens.

Ummm...you do realize that wasn't written by AP, but by a columnist, right?

Yeah, but the part where it says
At one point last year I literally saw eleven defenders in the box… eleven! Tarvaris didn’t even audible to a pass. Instead, he audibled to an option, broke it outside, and Reggie-Bushed it for a short loss.
is so true.

I look for Vikings to pick up another QB to go along with Rosenfels. Tjack will be a bench polisher for his final season. Frerotte will be allowed to come in and compete for the job, but he will do it without the guaranteed money he is due in March in order to extend his current contract. Vikes will then cut, trade or relegate to practice squad as needed before end of fall camp.

At times. There were games (see Arizona) where he looked awesome, but he's too damn inconsistent. You couldn't really count on him... I think Sage has the possibility to really blossom with the Vikes.

Guess the same could be said about AA last year, but that doesn't mean he can't do the job.

AA played so poorly in games that he was the major reason ISU lost? False.

That's my issue with Sage as well, he's inconsistent and at the worst times.
