how has he been a headache? He "violated" a team rule? Im pretty sure there are worse offenses than cell phone usage.

Good grief. If nebraska wants to kick his all-american *** off the team- we should welcome him with open arms.

First, he's not an All American. Second, the kid called his dad at halftime of a game. Third, rumors are that he wore a boot that was not required and above all that it was on the wrong foot. He has a hovering father who will constantly be protective. Sorry, I don't want it. DO you really think PR will get along with a prima dona and a dad who think they need to be involved every moment?

he is a freshman

he was one of the best players in the big 12 last year when he was healthy

next year his passing will likely improve and he could be a heisman candidate

College football is about winning. Unless you're breaking some serious rules-- no one gives 2 ***** about integrity. Auburn? USC? SMU? Iowa? Florida? Florida St? Miami? Ole Miss? etc.

T-mart would start for us next year and put us in the SAME position nebraska is this year. A team thats pretty good- that is pretty dang good with a super star QB. Without him, nebraska is pretty average.

He was a RS Fr. therefor decreasing the growth curve relating to next year, besides that he won't be playing next year and depending on the ruling, perhaps not the next year so he would have at most 2 years to play. I didn't say anything about integrity. I said he is a pain in the *** right now who seems like he needs to be cottled. This isn't about perception, it's about his seemingly immature attitude.

Reminder to all he is a Redshirt Freshman. Meaning he will only have 2 seasons of eligibility left if he transfers to a DI program. 5 to play 4 rule.

Interesting side thought, with Nebraska bolting the conference (applies to other schools too), I wonder if the NCAA will grant waivers allowing athletes to avoid sitting out the transfer year. IE I think a Texas kid has a compelling case if he stated he went to Nebraska since they were in the Big XII and his family would get to see him play in person X times a year. Now in the Big 10 not so much...

Like I said earlier.... Combine his talent + fast start earlier this season + the crazy Nebraska fans singing his praises like he is the greatest QB to ever pick up a football = The Taylor Martinez that is pulling all of these stunts. In the environment he is in right now he has had so many people telling him he is a God that he has started to believe it.

Put him in front of a fanbase that appreciates his talent, appreciates his hard work in the classroom and on the field, a coach that focuses on the TEAM, a fanbase that focuses on the TEAM, and you will get a totally different Taylor Martinez then the kid you see right now. Iowa State is a completely different atmosphere then Nebraska. You want a kid to stay grounded.... you put that kid in Ames with a coach like CPR and that is exactly what you are going to get.

I guess you can count me as one of the people who would welcom T-Magic to Ames with open arms IF CPR and staff deemed that he were deserving of an opportunity to wear an ISU uniform.

I have a serious question for you yaman. Did you feel the same way when Fred was recruiting Royce White and Chris Allen? If I am not mistaken they were transferring because of issues with their current staff right?

I'm not saying that he wouldn't or couldnt cause trouble but with our current situation at QB and his albeit distant ties to ISU I say again if CPR is for it you can bet your *** I would support the move!

If he leaves he's an Oregon Duck...no brainer and a perfect fit for their offense.

Really? I'm not sure I would call it a no brainer. Oregons starting QB is a So this year meaning that if he were to stay for both his Jr and Sr year T-magic would likely have to sit out his Jr year leaving one year of eligibility.

I would say that if he is looking for playing time and ISU offers more in that regard than Oregon.

Let me clearify what I meant but not neccesarily what I said. If he comes in a different person and matures, then I am fine with it but I do not want him if comes in with thses problems. The Royce White deal is similar again, he has yet to play a game. Same with CHris Allen. I don't think they will but they could turn out to be disasters. Again, if he grows up I would be great with it.

I would agree with this. It could be similar to Tate Forcier. There needed to be a level of humiliation or a level of public criticism to make them grow up. If he could mature the way Tate Forcier did in a few short weeks I would welcome him. Again, like Royce WHite, he would also have a year to sit out to judge whether or not he grew up. So I suppose I would see it as the same deal. The coaches have to evaluate and do what they feel. FWIW, I give it a 4% chance he wants to come here but that's just me.

You are probably being generous ( I like how you went with 4% instead of 3 or 5% :spinny:) with 4% and we are arguing about nothing but hey what are message boards for once the season is over right?

If he were to come here could you imaging the predictions? Half of the people on here would have ISU playing for the NC or at least a BCS bid.

I think you guys are nuts if you think we don't offer Martinez.

I guarantee Rhoads and crew can deal w/daddy, and maybe daddy will be pumped about his boy being a Cyclone. We absolutely cannot afford to not pass on this. We probably won't get him, but we have to try.

I think the thing that most people are forgetting in this situation is the coaches attitude. Does anybody think that maybe just maybe if Bo Pelini wasn't such a **** that Taylor wouldn't be pulling these "stunts"?

When the Chancelor of the university comes out publically to announce his embarrassment at the coaches actions there might be some merit to how poorly Pelini treats his players. Just saying....
Passive resistance.....

But for christ's sake he called his DAD to (most likely) tell him that his injury was nothing! He'd be a cancer to the team!
