So UNLV Dave Rice says they will win the NCAA next year. Calipari and Self barely does it with freshman. Not Dave Rice. If RV wanted a NCAA, he would have picked another school. No way will UNLV be champions next year. For one they will play Arizona and then visit Phog Allen. It will not happen. Just a big smoke screen for the $$$$.:twitcy:

Exactly. On top of that RV is a 15-25 player according to all the high school rankings. Very good and may turn out to be a great player but it's not like he's the second coming of lebron. He's not even the best player on his own team now. Dave Rice will be lucky to keep in within single didgets next year against sdsu

I will say the biggest thing that Hoiberg needs to concentrate on in recruiting isn't a SG like Vaughn, it is getting some legitimate size who can play. Right now you have a team of 6'2-6'7 versatile and mostly energetic players who can spread the floor.

The reason why you are so mediocre to bad on the road is lack of size. It is holding you back from taking the next step because jump shots don't fall on the road like they do at home and other teams just pound you inside and on the glass. It is also the reason you are so poor on defense.

Hoiberg needs to grab 3 or 4 guys who are in the 6'10'' range with athleticism and size who can bang inside and he needs them now. The tough part is that he will need to get them from the High School level and develop them, and to this point he hasn't shown the willingness or ability to develop bigger post players. Gibson has some talent, but he hasn't gotten any better since he stepped on campus and might have gotten worse. I think some of that is Hoiberg's system and lack of patience with big men.

I am more than happy to discuss the strength of the Texas program vs. the strength of Iowa State. We could look over a 10 year period or simply since Rick Barnes has been here if that works.

- Made the NCAA Tourney 15 out of the last 16 years under Barnes
- (1) Final Four, (2) Elite 8's and (2) Sweet 16's, (3) Big XII Championsips
- Won 20+ games 14 out of 16 years under Barnes
- Rick Barnes has more conference championships (3) than Iowa State does (2) since 1948.

No offense to Iowa State, but Rick Barnes has as many NCAA Tournament appearances at Texas as Iowa State does in their entire history.
Who the **** is talking about Texas and your rattle-snake coach Barnes. All you guys wanted him gone before this season, stupid redneck Texans wouldnt be pumping your chest about him this year if he had 4-5 less wins on the season. Congrats on having Kevin Durant and not even making the final four, pretty pathetic imo.

Thanks, I just snapchatted this to Fred. I am glad you are here to tell us things that we have discussed. Thanks. You are a big help, I really really mean.

I will say that this is exactly why Texas has the drastic turn around they had this year. They picked up a quick freshman guard and kept and developed a ton of size. Holmes, Ridley, Lammert and Ibeh give other teams a lot of trouble because the clog the lane and pound teams on the glass.

Iowa State has the guards, now they need a few bigs to go along with them.

LOL at the UT guy. I have been living in Texas the past five years. Your coach was close to getting the Mack Brown treatment prior to actually doing well this season. All my UT friends hated him. Quit trying to act all high and mighty. We know that is how you UT fans act, just don't do it here.

One of the posters asked a direct question about Texas and wanted to compare the programs. I didn't actually bring them up, someone else did.

Who is denying this? I'm not saying that Texas fans wanted to keep Barnes, but someone asked to compare programs.

I thought they should have cut ties, but they didn't and now he has turned it right back around. Not going to complain about it.

I'm assuming you'll be back discussing Barnes and Texas basketball in a couple weeks after you've played Iowa State, Kansas, and Oklahoma on the road. Would love to talk then.

Please ban this taxass hole.

Again, not sure why you would want me banned. I am actually discussing relevant basketball topics, answering direct questions, having discussion and things like that. Others are screaming about payoffs to recruits, telling me all kinds of crappy things and asking for me to be banned for no apparent reason.

Is this a basketball discussion board or a board where you scream at anyone not like you and actually discussing topics that the board was set up for? I have even complemented Iowa State and Hoiberg multiple times.

I would be more than happy to and was right back on here discussing topics after Texas was blown out on the road this weekend. Why wouldn't I want to discuss basketball?

Ehh...it's that it's coming from a Texas guy ya know?

I personally don't think you said anything inaccurate.

Personally I think this thread should be saved. Maybe even printed, and then ISU could offer a course about the theory of the buildup and after-effects of getting figuratively kicked in the nuts.

"Read pages 300-400 and write a 3-page essay on where you stand on the topic of coffee and whether or not it makes you an adult"

I'll admit, I tried way too hard with this post and when it was finally typed out it wasn't funny at all, but I put a decent amount of time into it so I felt like I had to post it.
