Re: Rashad Vaughn

Might as well just sit back and relax for awhile. This kid isn't going to decide until late in the process and a lot can change before then.

Look at Kentucky. It doesn't matter who you have. You don't pass up someone better.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

That could just be a way for Roy to pressure indecisive recruits. I don't believe for a second that if Vaughn called Roy wanting to commit, that Roy would say no.

Pinson's commitment may ofcourse affect Vaughn's- but that's because it may dissuade Roy from going to NC, rather than causing Roy to refuse Vaughn.

I think it is two fold, after Theo's commtiment there isn't an obivious open spot for Vaughn to play right away. Thus Vaughn is less likley to want to play there with questionable playing time, and Roy will prioritize other post recruits to balance the class and complete his team. I think Rashad took him seriously and almost commited before Pinson probably due to Roy's comments.
Of course, Roy would use a scholly on Rashad if he called him tomorrow and he may beat out Pinson for starting minutes. (that could lead to Pinson being unhappy too).

Vaughn and Pinson can be on the floor at the same time.

Most if not all coaches would bend over backwards to have those two on the floor at the same time. The question is, does Vaughn want to share some of the spotlight with Pinson or another high recruit because he will at NC. At ISU, he will likely be given all the spotlight he wants and can handle.

And then some. I'm sure if he commits he will be expected by many to average a triple double, lead the league in scoring and rebounding and cure cancer even before his first game.

And what's so tough about that? You do realize we're talking about THE Rashad Vaughn.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Id love to have him, but if you think Roy wouldn't find a way to get Pinson and Vaughn both in a UNC uniform then your crazy! I think Minnesota could be a little let back because of the coaching change, I like to think it'll come down to us, UNC, KU, Kentucky? Has Kentucky even formally offered? I only ask because I honestly have not kept up on his recruitment besides when he was about to commit to UNC.

I kind of feel like his parents want him to come to ISU more then Vaughn really wants to come to ISU. But hey, what do I know I'm just purely speculating.

I think that is a bit of an exageration...we would give him until conference season to cure cancer.

Once again, we aren't arguing that Roy no longer wants him.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'm pretty sure Rashad Vaughn has said he plans being patient with his decision. If that is the case, he will most likely be a late signing period guy. He's been quoted as saying he will wait and commit after his senior year basketball season is over which will be in the spring of 2014. You're going to lose that bet.

Welp. If what you say comes true in regards to timing of an announcement from RV, I quiver in fear at the thought of how long this thread grows to be by 2014.

That's his backside that is leaning toward U of Iowa (formerly known as SUI).

Edit: Sorry. I meant to quote this reply:

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Then there was this written prior to Vaughn's visit in March by a Tar Heel recruiting site.

UNC currently has three offers out to uncommitted perimeter prospects in the 2014 class with Theo Pinson and Devin Booker also holding offers. However, Roy has made it clear that he has one spot open and it will likely be first come, first serve as all three players would be welcome additions with Vaughn as the best option.

There has been some time since this was written and things change but saying Pinson's commitment won't affect Vaughn isn't correct.

90% of the time that is a recruiting ploy to push a kid into committing faster.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I saw this the other day on Twitter but I was on my phone so I couldn't copy and paste it into this thread. There was a Twitter conversation between a UNC fan and Jerry Meyer from 247 Sports after Theo Pinson chose UNC.
https://twitter.com/jerrymeyer247/status/337316324000817152

Maz Smith ‏@mazsmith2
@jerrymeyer247 do you think Pinson commitment affects UNC landing Rashad Vaughn?

Jerry Meyer ‏@jerrymeyer247
@mazsmith2 I'm thinking UNC pushed Theo Pinson for a commitment cause they aren't feeling good about Rashad Vaughn.

Maz Smith ‏@mazsmith2
@jerrymeyer247 crazy how Vaughn seemed to be heading towards UNC with Pinson elsewhere now it may be the opposite

Jerry Meyer ‏@jerrymeyer247
@mazsmith2 don't disagree but think things have cooled with Rashad Vaughn & UNC and part of why push for a Theo Pinson commitment

Re: Rashad Vaughn

woof people on here can be so feisty, I AM a huge cyclone fan and I am also a realist. I am looking forward to seeing our team that we know we will have in 2015. OBVIOUSLY Rashad Vaughn could possibly set us over the top and put us into final 4 contention, but if Iowa State was the place to go for big name people who didnt want to share the spotlight we would have had more blue chippers in the past 10 years. I 100% believe that Hiltons atmosphere can match up with any other arena out there and I think Rashad saw that in the Baylor game. But what was the last thing that happened that really made us think we had a shot? I honestly dont know that wasnt sarcastic. Twitter can be deceiving, he used to retweet us all the time to and now he hasnt in a long time. If we dont think he will commit we have to start spending our resources somewhere else. The team in 2015 should be very exciting to watch as it is IMO. Again im a cyclone fan just like most of you on here, I just think he is grabbing to much of our attention for no real evidence that he will commit.
