Re: Rashad Vaughn

woof people on here can be so feisty, I AM a huge cyclone fan and I am also a realist. I am looking forward to seeing our team that we know we will have in 2015. OBVIOUSLY Rashad Vaughn could possibly set us over the top and put us into final 4 contention, but if Iowa State was the place to go for big name people who didnt want to share the spotlight we would have had more blue chippers in the past 10 years. I 100% believe that Hiltons atmosphere can match up with any other arena out there and I think Rashad saw that in the Baylor game. But what was the last thing that happened that really made us think we had a shot? I honestly dont know that wasnt sarcastic. Twitter can be deceiving, he used to retweet us all the time to and now he hasnt in a long time. If we dont think he will commit we have to start spending our resources somewhere else. The team in 2015 should be very exciting to watch as it is IMO. Again im a cyclone fan just like most of you on here, I just think he is grabbing to much of our attention for no real evidence that he will commit.

If Vaughn does commit to ISU, I am more excited to see how we look in 2014, since he will be likely playing in the NBA at the start of 2015 season.

And you also have to realize that when you make your first few posts controversial, that people will accuse you of being a troll. If you're just sharing an honest opinion - great; just realize that you look like a troll.

*scratches head*.... How long have you been a Clone fan?....

We haven't been in as good of a situation as we are now as a program in the last 10 years. Wayne had a fast paced style but was a terrible coach and really never got the program anywhere (1 NCAA, 1 NIT). Think we all know the story with McDumpsterfire. Not sure I would have even committed to ISU with him coaching (if I were a 5* recruit that is).

Fred has gotten us to 2 consecutive NCAA trips after 3 years. He runs an open style. We are close to home and just far enough away to get out of town. We have a solid foundation built for the 2014-15 season. He can come in and be the star but still be surrounded by a solid team. Fred also has connections to the NBA and has shown the ability to get guys into the league.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I saw this the other day on Twitter but I was on my phone so I couldn't copy and paste it into this thread. There was a Twitter conversation between a UNC fan and Jerry Meyer from 247 Sports after Theo Pinson chose UNC.

Maz Smith ‏@mazsmith2
@jerrymeyer247 do you think Pinson commitment affects UNC landing Rashad Vaughn?

Jerry Meyer ‏@jerrymeyer247
@mazsmith2 I'm thinking UNC pushed Theo Pinson for a commitment cause they aren't feeling good about Rashad Vaughn.

Maz Smith ‏@mazsmith2
@jerrymeyer247 crazy how Vaughn seemed to be heading towards UNC with Pinson elsewhere now it may be the opposite

Jerry Meyer ‏@jerrymeyer247
@mazsmith2 don't disagree but think things have cooled with Rashad Vaughn & UNC and part of why push for a Theo Pinson commitment

Time to create him on my 2k8 team!

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Well look at this matchup Sunday at the Nike EYBL #4 - Minneapolis.

Top Match-ups:
Theo Pinson (CP3) vs. Rashad Vaughn (Wisconsin Playground Elite)
Time: Sunday, 11am

Two of the top wings in the country get to go at it on Sunday morning. Playing in his home state, Rashad Vaughn will look to cement his place as the premier wing in America and prove that he has overtaken all of the players like Pinson that were ranked higher earlier in their careers. This past Wednesday, Pinson committed to the University of North Carolina after being a top target for the past three years. While Pinson recently committed the Tar Heel staff had seemed to make Vaughn their top target over the past five months with both players taking visits during the same weekend in March. Vaughn is currently averaging 19.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game despite facing constant double teams and box-and-one defenses. Pinson on the other hand is averaging 13.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Vaughn will look to show off his offensive prowess and one up one of the better defenders in the EYBL.

The Intentional Foul: Nike EYBL #4 - Minneapolis

Road trip for Cyclone fans to this game?

Nobody KNOWS what our team will look like in 2014 or 2015.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Rashad Vaughn said UNC still under consideration (despite Theo Pinson commitment), as is a possible move to prep school via @TravisHines21.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think there is still a chance for ISU. Just my opinion, but I think ISU is a good alternative for a lot of these Twin Cities players who might get offers from the U of M, but maybe feel like they want to get away from home. ISU is just a few hours down the road on I-35, so it is not a bad trip for their family and fans to come to a game. Plus, both the men's and women's BB teams have a pretty good reputation.

ISU is recruiting pretty heavily up there. Tyseanna Johnson is already coming for the WBB, and her brother is being recruited by CFH for 2015. Plus, you have Vaughn and Travis for 2014. These players all know each other, and all talk to each other. I would love to see ISU MBB get all three players to come here. If they could do that.....the program will be at the next level.

As far as his tweeting goes......a lot of the tweeting from h.s. players has dropped off since the season ended. It has dropped off even from the Cyclone-signed players like Morris, Thomas and Custer. Part of it is I think because their h.s. season's are over, some of them are getting ready to graduate, and their AAU teams are going now. I don't think we can read too much into one player not tweeting as much. I don't see Vaughn tweeting or re-tweeting anything much right now, but then no one really is. I do think those from ISU who follow him on Twitter should put in the occasional plug for ISU and tweet him.......but don't be annoying or stupid about it.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

He ain't coming here. Move on.

Maybe your right?
Ryan James@RyanJamesMN 1h Theo Pinson is without a doubt a three man. He and Rashad Vaughn could definitely play next to each other. Different players

or not... until he commits ISU will be in the discussion.

Ryan James@RyanJamesMN 1h With that said, I'm done talking so much about UNC. Lots of others still in this for Vaughn including MN, Iowa State, so many others.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I would love Rashad Vaughn to committ to Iowa State, but would agree that it appears he is a heavy UNC lean. He is UNC's to lose.
