Re: Rashad Vaughn

Vaughn sure seems to have the most excitement in his response to the question about Iowa State. I think he would love to play for Coach Fred.

I would love to play for Coach Fred.

I do think that we have a very real shot. My predictions have a pretty poor track record, but I think Fred is a pretty solid reason for anyone to come here now.

You think so? Not what I got. He mentioned us and had positive things to say, and thats good. But when asked to list his schools UNC was the first off his lips, and it was instantaneous. Do I think that means much, no. But thats about the only thing I took from the video. He said his recruitment is wide open, and thats good enough for me.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Vaughn and Pinson can be on the floor at the same time.

Sure they can but keep in mind WF Justin Jackson is also a committed 2014 recruit for UNC and a very good one. I don't know UNC's recruiting needs for 2014 but it stands to reason their remaining 2014 emphasis is going to be on post players and PGs, not wings.

I agree but I want to make an additional comment. Marcus Paige isn't going pro anytime soon and they have 2014 PG Joel Berry verbally committed. Their focus probably isn't on PGs anymore.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

He said more about Iowa State then he did about any other school. Talked about coaches, relationships with them and how he loved how Fred is guard heavy orientated and getting up and down the court and scoring.

I think we have a shot, but won't hold my breath.

We have a shot until Rashad Vaughn says we don't have a shot.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think our chances are a little better with Vaughn now than they were this time last week. No matter what anyone says, Pinson going to UNC changes things a little. I suspect that UNC is slightly worried that despite his visits and the Rat's visits to Minnesota, Vaughn hasn't committed. If I were to guess, UNC is mostly worried about the new guy at Minnesota. And I continue to think that the parents are at least a little leary of UNC for some reason.

For some reason, I really think it is down to UNC, Minnesota, and Iowa State. I really think Baylor isn't much of an option any more. And maybe Kentucky might be more in the mix than I think.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

The Rat spends too much time recruiting in the Midwest.

Not sure why anyone would go to a prep school at this point if you want on year and done to go NBA.

We are still recruiting vaughn we are not going after a big man we have brice johnson joel james kennedy meeks and hicks okafor was the only one we were pursuing but he will end up dook or msu or ku with tyus. Now we just got pinson who roy sees as more of a 3 than a 2 we will have plenty of minutes for vsughn but I think the fact that we have pinson plus offers out to russel booker winslow. Now we are looking st lindsey and hill... looking more like vaughn to isu to a lot of unc insiders...

Re: Rashad Vaughn

For whatever reason, I haven't really been that scared of Kentucky when it comes to Vaughn. Admittedly, I probably should be. It probably has to do with all the UNC talk for the past 5 or so months. If it's not UNC, I think we have as good a shot as anyone else.

With Tubby gone, Fred now has the longest running relationship with him. Hopefully that means something.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Under Hoiberg we've been getting some big recruits and very sought after transfers. If UNC insiders think Vaughn to ISU then I like the sound of that! Might as well share some of the 5 star talent UNC

Prep school is to play against better competition his senior year. It would better prepare him for his freshman year.
