Could you answer the question posed to you before you start asking questions?

IMO, Leath would cannibalize athletics giving in order to increase giving for academics. There are only so many donor dollars out there. And I also thought it was a bit ridiculous in insisting that the term VEISHEA never be used again if ISU were to once again have a springtime celebration in the future. And IMO, it would be best if he would not comment the way that he did concerning athletics. Better to say nothing. I liked Geoffrey alot. Much of the things we are enjoying now was because of President Geoffrey laying the groundwork during some challenging times.

That would make him one of the best Iowa State Football Coaches in the last 30 years.
Well that's great but college football is big business now and will only continue to evolve and that's not good for ISU with a coach that hasn't won a conference game in over 365 days.

So you don't know of any issues that these guys had before they signed with Iowa State? You made it sound like they were apparent.

It is Paul Rhoads' job to evaluate young men and decide if they will be good representatives of ISU and their behavior is ultimately his responsibility.

CPR has not been able to get enough high character talent at ISU, so he had to take chances on some questionable character type guys who were more talented and less coveted by others. If he was better at his job, he wouldn't have to do that as much. That's a fact. He kept Irving on the team after he assaulted his girlfriend, kept Coe on the team for a long long time after skipping classes and made special concessions for him. And then he tried to bring him back as a walkon after he was kicked off the team.

I'm sure Bevins was just homesick *eyeroll*. Was Charlie Rogers homesick too? What happened there? What about his decision to sign Devron Moore? He never even made it to campus. There are so many guys that CPR has brought on that have just been absolute disasters and while some circumstances are a little unfortunate, that's still on CPR. TJ Mucherson is in the same mold. Talented player who CPR has had trouble getting to buy in to the system and the effort he needs to put forth. Devlyn Cousin has a domestic assault case he's dealing with as well.

Your willful ignorance is embarrassing.

How good is Paul Rhoads at his job if he can't consistently get football players on his team that go to class, practice at the level they should, and not break the law?

You think David Irving just changed his character and the way he carried himself when he stepped onto campus? Coe too? Does CPR do any fact checking or background checks on his players' personalities?

You repeated the two answers you had already given (VEISHEA and Leath's comments), and then made up an answer that has not happened. So basically, you don't really know much.

Collin Bevins....Here is the article.

http://amestrib.com/sections/sports...bevins-left-isu-get-back-small-town-life.html

David Irving was 17 years old when he signed his LOI. I am sure he changed quite a bit while at ISU.

Coe's issues were his attitude. Not sure if that was predictable or not. Maybe you have insider knowledge. Devron Moore did make it to campus. He left after a short time. Personal reasons were cited. Not sure what they were. Some said it was family problems. Nor sure what Charlie Rogers' issues were. As far as Mutcherson and Cousin, those will be resolved.

Perhaps we should take a page out of the Florida State Handbook and allow an alleged rapist play for our football team and win the Heisman Trophy. Would you be okay with that? Maybe we should be like Nebraska and their dealing with Lawrence Phillips?

Hell, CPR has been praised for the overall academic achievements of the football team concerning academics and graduation rates. Overall I would say that we have had little scandal. What fact checking and background checks has Rhoads ignored? Because you have made a lot of allegations.

Well we kept Irving after a domestic violence issue, Cousin is still on the team after domestic violence, and Albert Gary was kept on the team after a felony (I actually don't mind that one, that charge was excessive and a bit weird with little punishment from the law for the level it was given).

I don't get what you are getting at? I was the one arguing that CPR has had trouble with those type of questionable character guys. If he takes them on, he has to take responsibility and he has to get them to toe the line. If he can't, he isn't doing his job. And what the hell does Florida State have to do with anything? It's irrelevant. CPR isn't running a cookie cutter program that is hindered by his unwillingness to sign anyone other than church boys. That's not what is happening here.

He can take questionable character guys and keep them in line, help set them on the right path, or he can avoid them altogether and try to build with higher character players who might be less talented. I don't care, either works if you are good at your job.

But what you can't do is take guys and be wrong about their talent or their character and make the same mistakes over and over. Or you end up having other issues like injuries magnified and you end up with 5 wins in 2 years.

Let me ask you this question, how much fault of the past 2 years is CPR's, how much is Cyclone Fanatic to blame, and how much is it the universe conspiring against ISU (luck)? What percentages?

If these are the only options:

95% Rhoads
0% CF
5% "Bad Luck"

How about Cyclone Fanatic adopt the Jon Miller Rule. Any Poster who posts negatively about the Hawkeyes is automatically banned. Let's ban all those who post negatively about the Cyclones.

I agree that negative posts about the hoks should not be allowed. Bless their hearts.

Coe and Irving were kicked off while the alleged rapist Jameis Winston plays for Florida State. You don't see the hypocrisy in that? As far as Cousin is concerned he was charged with SIMPLE Domestic Assault. A SIMPLE Misdemeanor. Look up the freaking definition. Use verbal abuse (swearing) to your spouse. Simple domestic assault. Shove your spouse. Simple Domestic Assault. Intimidate your spouse. Simple Domestic Assault. Look up the definition. Simple Domestic Assault is not beating your spouse like some are suggesting.

CPR is responsible for the last 2 years. They were not good. He is coaching next year. If it is a 2 or 3 win season it is very likely his days are numbered. No one is arguing that.

instead of continuous bickering, lets settle this with a bet.

If ISU wins 4+ games next season, section110 gets a month ban.
If ISU wins 4 games or less, stormin gets a month ban.
So both are banned at four wins.

Irving was absolutely not kicked off after his initial incident.

Coe was kicked off because he wouldn't go to class.

You must be tired carrying the entire football program on your back. Thankfully you're here or the whole program would fold.

If you do not think Leath has done good things at ISU since he as arrived than you are crazy. Maybe the football program isn't what you want, but if you think Leath is the problem an give Rhoads a slide than you are nuts.

I said Irving was kicked off......not that he was kicked off after an initial incident. Coe and Irving didn't conduct themselves properly and were kicked off the team. Contrast that with other teams including our friendly rivals to the east of us.

CPR is being held responsible for bringing those players there. That is why his seat is getting warm. Just because you already want him fired does not mean that CPR is not being held responsible. It has been decided that CPR will be coaching the team next year. Get over it. Support the team and stop with the negativity. If the team has another poor season I am willing to bet that CPR and Pollard will come to a mutual decision that will be best for the Iowa State Football program.

Constant ******** does not help.

Irving was only kicked off once he had a 2nd separate incident that caused him to be expelled from school..... Your insinuation that CPR has some higher standard that he has to keep kicking players off after 1 minor incident and that is hindering his football program is ridiculous.

And your white knight defending of them doesn't do anyone any good. You aren't saving the world here. Your message board support does not matter. This is a message board about football. Not an ISU support board where whoever is in charge of the football program gets propaganda spread about how great they are at all times no matter what. I'm not here to blindly support whoever is currently the ISU coach. I want ISU football to do well.

What were Coe's scrapes with the law that got him kicked off the team?

I knew that Irving was dismissed from the team. Was not aware that Irving was expelled from Iowa State. Perhaps you could link that article. Were other students expelled as well?

Interesting that you condemn me for not posting negativity about Iowa State Football and claim that I am spreading propaganda. And your constant negativity does NOT help Iowa State do well. It is just complaining. Other than complain, what do you do to help ISU football?

I am not really interested in placing blame for our problems. You seem to think that firing Rhoads will solve all our problems. Name all the great successful football coaches we have had at Iowa State in the last 35 years.

Coe was dismissed because he wouldn't go to class. He was a team cancer. We've discussed that. If you remember right, Iowa would not offer Coe a scholarship after JUCO because of his attitude/character. Not a legal issue. Rhoads had already given him a longer leash than anyone other than maybe Irving with his law troubles and it was effecting the entire team. It caused Jensen to quit. Anyway, Rhoads is not a saint for kicking a kid off the team who wouldn't go to class. That is not a disadvantage that ISU has against other schools.

I knew that Irving was dismissed from the team. Was not aware that Irving was expelled from Iowa State. Perhaps you could link that article. Were other students expelled as well?

Here's an article that says the 9 students involved would face possible expulsion, although I would guess that without a scholarship for the fall semester Irving just didn't come back anyway and the formal process was not required. I don't know though. http://www.iowastatedaily.com/sports/article_09eed81c-c1b2-11e3-9af6-001a4bcf887a.html

You can post whatever you want. What I see you doing is constantly arguing with posters about how nothing is actually Rhoads' fault. How he is so disadvantaged at ISU and how we can never expect more than 3 or 4 wins a year. How nothing that has gone wrong can be put on Rhoads, you can't blame anyone for anything. Just don't spew all that BS. Nevermind that Paul Rhoads has the best facilities relative to our piers that ISU has ever had. New $5 million scoreboard, new $23 million practice facility, new $50 million SEZ coming in to sell recruits, fans selling out games until the last 25% of a 5-19 run, ect. He'll get one more year for non football reasons, but it's a contract issue more than anything. And maybe he'll come out of nowhere and we'll go to a bowl, but I wouldn't bet on it and at this moment despite that being something that I desperately want.

I am not really interested in placing blame for our problems. You seem to think that firing Rhoads will solve all our problems. Name all the great successful football coaches we have had at Iowa State in the last 35 years.

Well that explains a lot. You constantly insist that people talking about the reality of ISU football is "not helping Iowa State", but you won't say it is hurting it either. That's because it doesn't matter! It is irrelevant. None of this matters. It's a message board for entertainment. You don't post facts or solid arguments to support your opinions, you just spout off about how bad ISU historically is and how we will always be that bad no matter the coach so let's just keep Rhoads. I'm not going to take a vow of silence for an entire year while our coach is a lame duck just because you think it's "not helping Iowa State".
