A lot of Shayoks misses were so wide open that I would be upset if he didn’t shoot them.
And he usually hits them.
Same with Wiggs.
This team can be solid from the outside and many can get to the lane too.

I’m willing to give Jacobson a pass too. It was just 1 bad game is all.
The most impressive to me was the block then the tip save to keep it in bounds in the first half.
Second was his no look behind back bounce pass to Hali for a wide open 3.
Third was the Hogue foot block.
I'm gonna get killed for this but who the hell is Ron Harris?View attachment 61343
Pretty good company for someone a lot of people here seem to think is a ****** player.
People who say anything bad about Nick need to have their heads examined. Not everybody can be a volume shooter. He makes the whole team more efficient.
He was 5/8 from the field, 2/4 from three, 3/4 from the line, grabbed 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, scored 15 total, and played better defense than any of the other wings.
Most of our best looks were ones he found for somebody, directly or indirectly.
The guy just does everything well.
Having two guys like that, along with Haliburton, allows the other guys to chuck it.

Yep. As I recall, he was essentially Johnny Orr's first recruit and helped to start a Chicago pipeline in the 1980s. Started for 4 years. All Big 8 on defense as a way undersized forward (wasn't even 6'4"). Decent mid-range game. One of Johnny's early guards. Also Harrison Barnes' dad. Heck of a player, and was one of the guys that were playing when I first started following ISU hoops in the 80's.
He has an interesting form but he rarely takes ill-advised shots. His shot has me like; "no no no," but then when they go in its "yes yes yes."

He hung around Ames for a few years after his eligibility ended and I played with him quite a few times.

Most of the 3s we took tonight were open though. Those are good shots. Sure you can try to move the ball around more, but the chances are you probably wont get a better shot. Hoiberg's teams thrived on this philosophy. If you have a good shot, take it. You run offense with the hopes of creating a good shot, if you get one in transition, you need to shoot it. The game is not as simple as "just drive to the rim for layups or fouls every time". I think teams are starting to pack it inside against us knowing we aren't a great shooting team. Hopefully Wigginton starts to make some.I'm nervous with how much this team falls in love with the 3, especially on the break. This team doesn't have a Christopherson or Thomas on it, get your easy points or fouls at the rim.
Overall though, good road win. Glad we have some interior depth with KU coming in

Eh, I think Jacobson did quite well in the minutes he played at Iowa. It was unfortunate he had to play in foul trouble all game, and that Pemsl tool came in and caused him to pick up an extra foul as well. Lard and Jacobson will both be very important in Big 12 play.I worry about his play vs bigger physical teams. Against Iowa he had some issues as well.
