How many times over the last two coaches have we lost games because we struggled hitting the 3 point shot? More than I care to count, no one is saying do not shoot the ball, but a great scorer knows when his shot is off for the night, and then adjusts his game. Both Wigginton and Shayok can do more than hit 3s, they are great at taking it to the hoop, drawing contact and finishing. They are both good free throw shooters, but neither has learned to adjust when their shot is not falling, they just keep shooting them.
First bold:
Last night we had a game where we struggled to hit the 3 point shot. We won, FYI.
Second bold:
Both Shayok and Wigginton did other things than shoot threes last night. Wigginton shot 11 free throws, Shayok 6. Shayok was also 1-6 from two, so he pretty clearly wasn't making any shots, not just threes. They correctly didn't stop taking open threes, but their games weren't entirely threes. I'd call that adjustment. (Also they combined for 5 assists, 14 rebounds, and 2 steals.)
