Shayok and Jacobsen better get used to scoring less than the 20 and 15 they put up in nonconference. We are better off if Shayok isn't shooting 11 threes every game. Let Babb shoot a few more of them. Babb is our best 3 point shooter this season.

Wigginton will have something to say to that, as will Halli.

And don't sleep on Lewis if he fits into the right situations.

I agree but.... Shayok had an off night.

Back to why I agree; he needs to 'pass up the good shot for the great shot' on about 7/10 of his shots.

Shayok is a chucker. He has been pretty much all year. It’s fine if he’s hot but when he isn’t we have plenty of options and he needs to explore them.

Shayok likes to hunt his shot (as do most scorers) but he also passed up a wide open 3 and gave to Halliburton in the corner on two occasions in the first half.

Im concerned that he's having alot of off nights lately that are being hidden by his shot volume. He needs to start playing a little more unselfish now that Wiggington is back.

I am in favor of TH shooting a 3 every time he touches the ball.

Shayok needs to realize now that everyone is healthy he doesnt have to try to carry the team on his back offensively. There are nights where he will go for 25 but on his off nights he needs to quit forcing shoots. We have more than enough offensive talent.

If your shots arent falling start concentrating on defense and getting other things done on the offensive end.

I actually thought lard had a very good vibe tonight
1st half not so sure, 2nd half yes.
I do think the increased minutes in the 2nd half helped him get into the game flow.

With this team people players and fans need to understand there are going to be different contributors every night. You got what 7 guys that can score 15 on a given night.

Oh and Halliburton is a taller Monte Morris (still needing a tad more seasoning) , but he is just one savvy dude. Both Jay Bilas and Fran Fraschilla have mentioned how much they love him, that is some pretty high praise

I'm nervous with how much this team falls in love with the 3, especially on the break. This team doesn't have a Christopherson or Thomas on it, get your easy points or fouls at the rim.

Overall though, good road win. Glad we have some interior depth with KU coming in

Minutes played...

Time to overreact from small sample sizes...

-- Jacobson was alright, but offered little on offense and practically nothing on defense tonight... if Lard is back to being Lard, he needs to start

-- Shayok was an ugly 4/17 from the field (23.5%), which I do not hope happens again, but he did salvage things with 6/6 from the line and six boards

-- Horton-Tucker had an awful night, which I am sure will not be a pattern, but it was a godsend Wigginton was ready to take his spot and score 17 doing it

-- Haliburton is our best freshman right now... 4/6, all from three, otherwise played solid all-around for 39 minutes as a true freshman, just wow

-- Nick was Nick, basically a slightly discounted Monté Morris, see my other post

-- Talley and Lewis were in only briefly and offered little

-- not sure why Prohm did not give Solomon more time, given he had a nice rebound, but I guess he must not really truly be back to 100% and ready to go

-- Lard played 16 good minutes, blocked two shots and altered a ton more, only had four points, but four fouls, seemed to be having the right attitude

-- Wigginton was the best player on the court and needs to start again, like now, and play 30+ every night... did not notice until now he had four fouls, too

* * *

I know we love our "depth," but things are starting to thin out. I see seven Big 12 players above from tonight, and eight once Solomon is really healthy again.

Lard had that amazing play where we got all switched up and the guy had a wide open dunk and cam flew from the free throw to the bottom of the key and kicked the ball out of the guys hand for a foul to save the easy bucket and the guy missed 1/2.
The most impressive to me was the block then the tip save to keep it in bounds in the first half.

Second was his no look behind back bounce pass to Hali for a wide open 3.

Third was the Hogue foot block.
