I thought they played hard. He may want to teach them some more basketball skills rather than focusing on finding everyway you can to grab, hold and body block the other team for 40 minutes. I don't recall TTech being as brutal, yea they played tough def but they had the skill players as well.

One thing I have learned about this ISU team is that you will not wear them down. ISU will be the stronger team the last 5 minutes. You will have to out basketball them (a la OU).
We've watched enough of Prohm's lack of coaching to know Beard's comment about him 'being one of the best in college basketball' is simply bizzare.
Beard hired him at Texas, didn't he.:D:D:D

Interesting. I was as big of a Prohm defender as anyone during his first four years here, and I was also as ready as anyone else to move on from him last season, but this is just an odd thing to say after a game like today's. I do think it is complimentary towards ISU with him talking about the DNA of the program and the pride and tradition.

I think it's Beard talking about himself.

Mark Adams has not missed a beat as Beard's assistant taking over at Tech while Beard moved to UT and has not gotten a quality win yet despite being ranked based on the talent there. This can lead people in Austin to wondering who was really behind the success there and I think it bugs him that Adams gets credit for TT while he's already getting criticism, and he wants to be able to say "I built that" but obviously can't.

If you watched the Beard press conference, you did not hear Beard call TJ a great coach. In fact, he somehow brought Prohm into the equation saying TJ has benefited from Prohm being one of the best coaches in college basketball.

As a reminder, if opposing coaches start talking about you as one of the best coaches in college basketball, they are saying they are happy to have you on the schedule at least two times per season.

Also, Carr clapping in TJ's face with the ref standing right there was BS. Should have been a easy T. If he was doing that to a player there would have been no hesitation for a T.
Does anyone have the clip of this? I missed it.

It doesn't show on the broadcast. If you go back a couple of pages in this thread, the game (and approximate time) were linked, but it only shows Beard, then cuts to Carr and Tyrese standing together after the clapping, and the ref coming over to them.

Yep. We sure did hear alot of opposing coaches praising the job that McDermott and Prohm did here.

I think we are going to win on the road in Lubbock or Austin.

I have no idea how graphics like that are put together, but I feel like that one could have been an honest mistake this time since Ohio state is right under us in the rankings.

I'd love Baylor to play like last night when ISU goes there but Waco is weird no matter what ISU brings.

Not going to lose my mind over it because it's not worth it, but there is zero excuse for making that mistake. They aren't even in the same conference, and to work at a place like ESPN, Fox Sports, etc. that is sport's 101. I have a friend who interviewed at ESPN a few years ago and they give you a basic sport's knowledge test during the interview process, so that is a pretty glaring mistake not knowing Ohio State is in the Big 10 when you are showing the Big 12 standings. And those graphics have to get the approval, so it wasn't just the person who created it, the producer or assistant producer should have caught that too.

Espns #1 school is Ohio State. Half of their staff is from there and they pump them up constantly. It wasn’t a mistake.

Beard got pissy a couple times when TJ was talking with the refs. He kept stareing over at TJ looking all pissy, even when he should have been coaching his team in a timeout.
Yeah when he charged to half court when TJ was talking to the refs towards the end of game I was like WTF? He looked really pissed. That combined with his bitchy postgame comments about TJ being successful because of the foundation Prohm built makes me think he just doesn't like TJ much for some reason.

You think ESPN made an intentional decision to pump up Ohio State by… randomly showing them in the Big 12 basketball standings?

Good for you. I'm really glad the Clones put up a good show and got the W! It helped make it worth the trip.

Careful. Don't give them any ideas.

Beard doesn't know TJ. After today he probably doesn't want to. He was comfortable in his former club with Prohm being someone he could routinely beat, more than likely. Thus it is easy to give him props. I also don't think he wants to give TJ any credit for what he is doing.

His comment that he didn't pick us last, makes it even more disingenuous.
Edit: Don't forget Beard subbed a student manager into the game against us last year, while at TT. If he was such great friends with Prohm I doubt he does that.
This is how I see it. Beard doing everything he can to NOT give TJ credit. "We have the same transfer thing going", "Prohm built it for him", etc. Very confusing and makes me think he just doesn't want to admit someone is doing a better job...

Yep. And Prohm didn’t leave him Jack **** for a foundation. In fact He tour down and razed the entire program Hoiberg left him.

Two returning players from a team that lost 18 straight. Helluva foundation.

I was pretty big defender and still feel pretty sympathetic towards him and respect him (Steve) as a man who always seemed to try to do right by his kids. But what the eff is this?

Is he crediting the culture for the recruiting of Hunter?

The fact he mentioned culture numerous times is the most confusing/baffling. Is he serious?

Steve was beloved by Big 12 coaches for obvious reasons.

10 seconds does not reset after jump ball
After watching a replay, it's clear that TJ knew this. He was motioning for the team to get the ball into the front court. Texas did a good job of stopping dribble advancement. In hindsight, even a risky 50/50 advancement pass would have been a better option.

I am started to wonder if going home for Beard is not going to work out the way he and UT fans had hoped it would. I have always been a fan of Beard from afar, liked the way that TT played defense and made every possession count.

But this may turn out like the Butler deal, that it was the assistant coach in Adams that was the real reason for the success that TT was having, and not Beard.

I guess we will wait and see.
