The block call on Gabe at the end was the cherry on top. This crew struggled. Their first two calls on Texas to start the game were just horrible too. Jon Rothstein tweeted out about how poor officiating has been across the board this year.

I had a great view and just like he was doing all game long, Carr extended his arm and gave his stupid head bob. How do refs fall for that, I've never actually seen someone's head move like that when fouled.

They have to learn to call it consistently and then players will stop. The issues with it falls on the refs. Players are always going to try and get an advantage, but if the refs enable it, it's gonna happen more.

Who the heck would want to? It doesn’t look like fun at all.
I'm on the younger side, and did it for a couple years. First of all, it should be and can be fun, but often times isn't. Parents, especially in the younger age groups you're almost forced to start with, are just awful. It was very common to have not only a parent losing their minds during any game no matter what, but also having parents who keep talking after games are over. Especially when you're younger, parents and coaches really think they can bully you. It was even worse for any woman officials I worked with, people were extra brutal towards them. Coaches who don't know the rules sure doesn't help either. Second, it's not worth traveling an hour+ to go do one game and get paid garbage when you include the travel time.

Mainly, the problem is even at school games, there's just a complete lack of professionalism by the administrators that just made it not worthwhile. You show up somewhere and find out at tip that you're the only official. You're expected to police the crowd during games because the game administrator is either not there or doesn't care that someone clearly needs to settle down. Funny enough, officiating men's leagues where guys complain about everything really wasn't as bad as "real" games.

Younger refs/officials/umps aren’t coming up because kids sports are ******* awful. You can’t just train a guy to be a CBB ref. They have to get experience.
sounds a bit like pilots for the airlines. must be nice to have to invest literally nothing in the development of your workers and demand they be ready to go and trained elsewhere.

I actually stopped playing rec league with friends because a few on the team kept getting into it with refs or opponents. We were like C level and not good and there was no big prize or anything so paying entry money to be around 20-30 somethings' tantrums lost its appeal.

I'd imagine the refs hated getting our games.

I was pretty much ready to have someone cheap shot Carr, I was getting tired of his antics by the end of the game.

Jumped in on page 41. What a great game every time I thought we would put them away the closed the gap, kept it interesting. I thought the crowd filled in pretty nicely during the 1st half given the conditions last nite. I know I had about 3 hrs of snow to move so I could make the game.

I wish they would have called NBA continuation on Kunc's (?) last second 3 to finish the half. Glad the refs didn't call that obvious foul at the half court so we could drain a corner three on that one break.

Shout out to the crowd, for not having the student section there we were FIESTY!!!

Another great win by the guys. Ladies Got the W on the road also so double W's in Cycloneland always a good day.

what bottom feeders?????
(KState beats Tech, TCU in ot w/OU, OkSt ahead of Baylor, etc, etc....)
These are the games I'm glad we have TJ at the helm. Their focus on effort and emphasis on D should help these games that always seemed to trip up other ISU squads.

Similar to CMC starting to right the ship by beating teams they're supposed to beat consistently.

He did it all game long and that one was the perfect call for a referee to call a charge, yet Gabe gets punished for playing good defense. Carr is a real good player but we did a terrific job on him today.

I was pretty big defender and still feel pretty sympathetic towards him and respect him (Steve) as a man who always seemed to try to do right by his kids. But what the eff is this?

Is he crediting the culture for the recruiting of Hunter?

The fact he mentioned culture numerous times is the most confusing/baffling. Is he serious?

We got 9 points...so every coach had to pick us last.
