His flyby handshakes after the game were not impressive
Yes, Kelvin was through the line and in the tunnel before any of the rest of the team and assistants had completed the handshakes (well, maybe one assistant had completed the handshakes). I believe Kelvin actually cut through the line after the first assistant or two and then made a bee line for the tunnel, ignoring our remaining assistants.

But, there was another incident that I have not seen mentioned. After Milan hit The Shot, Houston needed to inbound the ball. The player (#4?) that was waiting for the ball was looking towards Kelvin for what to do. Kelvin was signaling to push the pace. At that time, Sharp (#21) was on their side of the court a few steps from Kelvin with his back to Kelvin. Kelvin stepped on the court and gave Sharp a hard shove in the back, hard enough it looked almost like a punch. I get that Kelvin may have been mad at Sharp for something, but it struck me as very odd.

Did anyone else at the game see this?

He is hard on his guys, he was getting up in their faces a few times. Fran mentioned that when you sign up to play for Kelvin, you better know what you’re going to get.

He was going to get 2 anyway (shooting foul), so that was a wash.

There was also a lost FT attempt on Ward's lane violation.
Ooo my bad you're right I forgot he didn't shoot 4 FTs there. Still, I don't think anyone's complaining on Houston's end about that call. There just weren't that many bad calls in this game imo. I think one that stands out might've been where Ward might've been cleanly blocked towards the end but I think we only got one out of that because as you said he had a lane violation.

Right now Timin is a G league player, no way he makes a roster, but he has 2 years to improve his shortcomings. He needs to be a threat shooting the ball, he is not there yet.

Yeah needs to improve more but he's on the path now. You had to see the jump from last year to this year to even have the notion. Scouts are definitely watching in a new way now.

The way he rebounds and finds loose balls/steals is pretty elite for the position and that seems to just be who he is from day one.

I feel like the free throws are just a matter of time until it works out. His advanced stats are actually comparable to a lot of the best players we've had come through going back through Hoiball era.

You may as well change the names for Lipsey and Rob Jones. They are such different offensive players this year that it's not a good comparison. It's a lot more than Tamin shooting, which on its own is massive for the entire offense and spacing. He was making good decisions last year. This year he is attacking and making plays at another level.

And Rob being competent at the line and scoring around the basket are the obvious things, but he has become drastically better when they run the high post stuff through him. Of all the guys on last years roster and this years roster, Gilbert, MM, and Soph. Lipsey are the three best offensive players. Holmes and Gabe were asked to do more than they should've offensively, but we really didn't have a choice. They did a great job with what they were asked to do, and were absolute bulldogs, but they just weren't consistent, efficient offensive guys.

And I get people pulling their hair out a bit with Gilbert at times, but man, he is a special blend of quickness and motor/effort.
Gilbert was an absolute dawg on D last night. Offensively, he had 4 important assists and was money at the line. There were a couple head-scratching decisions he made on offense last night - but no egregious mistakes. I wish he had pulled up for a mid-range shot late in the game, rather than driving into 2 Houston bigs in the lane. But, that is a minor critique for someone who was a thorn in Cryer's (and their other guards') sides the entire game. 53 total points for the #2 team in the nation is a HUGE accomplishment!

He could definitely be a Jordan McLaughlin kind of guy.

Gilbert was the best defensive player on the court last night.

Best thing about making the tourney every year and getting bounced in round 1 once in awhile is that the odds of that happening again the next year have to go down by a lot.

Yep and the key is just keep getting there and let things fall where they may.

ISU just didn't have it last year.

Neither did Purdue or Zona.

Cryer was one of my main concerns last night just because he has performed well in Hilton before. I thought he'd be comfortable and hard to contain. Gilbert helped basically erase him as a factor.

Dumb fans think the EXPECTATION is to never have a bad game or lose a game. Thats the GOAL, not the expectation.
The people that think that it's an expectation have definitely never played basketball. It can be a weird sport. Some days you just can't make a basket

I thought the worst "call" was the no call when a Houston player (can't remember which one) drove on Gilbert. Gilbert took hard contact and went flying. That has to be a charge or a blocking call. I don't think Gilbert was set but it also looked like the offending player lowered his shoulder (though I can't be sure as there was no replay and I didn't bother rewinding it). It was a pretty egregious no call.

But...there are always bad no calls in every game.

You are correct. Texas got away with a travel and the shooter hit the game winning shot to win by one. Should have been a turnover to Cincinnati. Welcome to the Big 12 Bearcats.

I think that might have been Shead? Basically threw him out of the way with his left arm

That was an offensive foul, but I believe there was something of a “compromise” and called a travel, though it looked like a legal eurostep. Not sure if that was the play.

That's a ridiculous statement. He's at 39.3% from 3pt range - what do you want? He needs to make his damned free throws and improve a couple other areas, but he's a NBA-level guard defender already.
