You know, everyone knew that pg play, defense, and rebounding were the keys to this season.

I am truly more worried about how we guard, and how we rebound, than I am about getting into an offense. I think the point is that we have enough skilled players that we should be able to initiate offense from at least 3 spots on the floor.

As an aside, Cyclonefan89 has THE most correct post in this thread. 21 is one of those that comes on here, and talks himself into believing we are somehow going to be great, and then when the slightest thing goes wrong they come on here and complain about it. Stop doing that....We are more than likely going to lose games this season, especially in conference. There, now you know.

It doesn't mean that we are going to bad if we lose a game.

As for clonedude, I am QUITE certain that we will ONLY hear from him when we lose. So, look out for the next 2 fb games, and of course all of the bb losses, he will be a posting fool on those occassions.

Can't wait. Oh, and it's spelled JACY....

I think the key here is that Fred isn't one of those bullheaded coaches that's afraid to adjust and play in different ways to fit our talents. He'll tinker with it until we get the best results. Based on what I saw today, we'd be sacrificing alot of offense to have Scotty play the point. Not only in that we're taking away his strengths but a guy like Scotty will be pressured into starting our offense farther out than we would like to, which is a big deal. I didn't think I'd be saying this, but Bubu probably needs to get a chance at some more minutes.

IMO, our offense was just fine today. It wasn't an uptempo game, so we put up a good amount of points for the tempo. Before we started subbing we were pretty darn sharp and we got good shots without much trouble as long as we didn't turn it over. Allen and Scotty tried to force some things -- I think Scotty needs to get it into his head that he doesn't have be a major creator with this team even though he is the "point guard".

Hopefully at least one of backup bigs can be alright offensively and be a defensive force in the middle when we need it.

Going from two pro PGs to zero is a big deal.

Nobody has said that it isn't....The point is that it is incredibly silly to not see the bigger picture.

This team is a brand new team. This is a coach that is beginning his second year, with no previous experience. This is a program that was left gutted by an incompetent coach that was at the bottom of the ocean over his head. But most of all remember, this team does have some real holes that will cause problems for them the entire year.

But it is an experiment that has not been tried in this manner before. We will see what happens. But the one thing that is for sure, we have more good players in the program now than we have had in many years. And the recruiting has been solid, as well. The future is ok here. We will be good.

But what is the point of claiming your misery today? I don't get that.

We are going to go through the usual ups and downs that decent but not great programs go through. I will look forward to all of your overreactions, I am sure they will be great.

One favor, please be better than 21, quit overreacting. And especially be better than dude....Actually act like you like Iowa State.

How we guard and rebound are the keys. I'm also interested in how Freddy will determine his rotation? Jacy- got it. thanks...

I just need to get this tumor off my chest. Clones21 and Clonedude are the WORST posters on this forum.

Wait! Clones21 said that Ok. State could hang with the Miami Dolphins. How can you argue with that?

How far did Tinsley minus Fizer get in the NCAA tourney?

ISU was out of gas by the end of 2001. Wasn't like one was more important than the other (just in case, i'll go with Tinsley), - but without Fizer, ISU didn't have enough depth to make it past 30 games. Give credit where it's due: Eustachy got every dime out of that team, and Jamaal carried us until we couldn't stand anymore.

I was surprised how slow down a tempo we ran the whole game. I do not think this is a recipe to consistently win in the Big 12 with the rebounding and rough play.

We did not look like we could set up that great of shot selection either. Outside of hitting some threes, we essentially did not look that overwhelming better than GVSU Lakers from Allendale, Mich, or whatever they called themselves.

We have a long ways to go, but we also have a lot of work to do. No doubt that Ejim had the best day from both ends of the floor.

Are we missing Lutz already?

last year I suggested we might be better off in the long run if DG red shirted and was crucified by almost everyone but mainly CW. Be a shame if this team ends up a PG short of making the dance.

It if clear from the game this weekend that we might as well start thinking about next year. The team will be lucky to win a few non-conference games. Another year like this and Fred could be gone.

You figured all that out from an exhibition game? I remember Willoughby, Bankhead and Pratt's first year I'm pretty sure we lost to Marathon Oil in the first exhibition game. Just sayin.

As sloppy as this team played yesterday, I still believe this team can be an NCAA tourny team. Too much damn talent on this basketball team.

To be honest he probably is. He is are fastest and quickest guy outside of sledge and possibly allen and he is a TRUE point guard. I think its just hard for freedy to put him out there because either scotty, allen or babb would have to come off the bench and they are the best scorers on the team. Also he is a walk on which doesnt look good. In my uneducated opinion if scotty cant get the job done or it makes him less of a scorer either bubu needs to be the main PG or sledge needs to start throughout the very weak non-conf schedule to get him game experience and ready for the big12 because bubu and sledge are the best pure point guards on the team right now

The problem with playing Bubu at the point is that you're basically adding a help defender on White. With Scotty or Allen or McGee at point, teams aren't going to be able to sag off of them, with Bubu you will see his guy crashing down to double the post a lot more, same for Sledge.
