I'd be for this IF they understand that this is a college-first market and a local-first market.
In other words, they need to understand that ISU, Iowa, UNI, Drake take priority over all else. (in that order too:wink
The biggest problem with Iowa sports talk radio is there are no professional teams in the state. What is there to talk about between basketball and football season? You can talk some about spring football, and the bball recruiting period, but come May-July, it's pretty dull. Who wants to hear about the NBA playoffs, not everyone is a baseball fan, and honestly baseball doesn't get good until after the All-Star break. Since we have no pro teams, you can only talk about college sports until you've covered everything about them.
I quit listening completely when Zabel wannabe and the Doughboy were conducting a daily ripping of Greg McDermott. IMO they mirrored each other as smart*****. Find it funny the first negative comment he sees Zabel wannabe adds a typical smarta-- comment!
C-Dub would be great but he has told me he isn't a morning person but know he wanted the Cyclone React gig and landed it so if he can handle the early morning hours I would start listening again instead of 810 WHB.

Iowa and ISU run the market. Not many care about the Valley. Then you split up the pro teams so you cannot talk about just one team. In the Twin Cities all they talk about is the Vikings. Population is population and station size is station size. Look at the markets above Des Moines. Most have something more to talk about than ISU-Iowa. When was the last time someone has left Des Moines for a bigger market? Most that are on the radio in Des Moines stay in Des Moines radio, or get out of radio all together.

I wish they would just do a podcast a couple times a week for a couple hours during football season... They wouldnt have to be up early but we all would get to listen to them so they can still spend time with their families. Maybe come out Monday (weekend CF Reaction)and then a Thurs or Friday (preview CF for the weekend) I bet it would be a VERY popular podcast and a huge draw to KXNO page...
If you're not on while I'm driving to work (or to a lesser extent) driving home, doesn't really fill the void. :sad:
