Honestly I’m bummed. I did like their show, and even though I wasn’t a huge fan of either host I thought they did a good job talking sports. I would love to see a Williams/and or Blum with Hassel. It would be tough to recapture what Deace and Miller have though. My only hope is that Deace gets canned from WHO and gets to join Miller in the afternoon. Perfect scenario. Probably would suck for Deacer but this is a selfish moment for me.

He's firmly entrenched at WHO.

Too bad - best local sports talk show in Iowa. Now there is no reason to keep KXNO as a favorite on one of my radio buttons. I like Murph and Andy but I rarely listen due to the time slot.

Thanks to Steve and Jon - it was fun while it lasted.

Murph and Andy is the best show they have on KXNO. Move them to the morning, then let Perault giggle and "hmmmm" his way through the 2-4 timeslot.

I doubt they want to do that, as far as murph and andy. Need dedicated hosts there, where it's their only on-air gig I believe.

With Murph doing the late local news, I doubt he'd be willing to do the morning show. I think they'll have to go outside the market to find someone. Everyone with experience around here has had a crack on KXNO and I don't see them bringing people back to fill this spot.

First, thanks to Jon & Steve, it was a great show and loved the fact that college football always got top pirority, which cann't be said for the national shows.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing Clear Channel do a national search and bring in fresh talent who can provide an unbiased view on both Iowa & Iowa St as well as both the Big 10 & Big 12 and thought they should've done that following the melt down in March of 2009.

If its just stretching everyone's day out too far with morning and afternoon shows and family obligations...then I'd love for KXNO to drop Jim Rome and move Jon and Steve to 11am to accommodate their needs better.

Jim Rome= a lot of high horse riding, and mindless banter. Oh and the show long barrage of burp, fart, and scream noises.

Rome has a slew of good guests, but all the other crap...is just that. Crap!

Never going to happen. KXNO and Premiere Radio Networks (the company that syndicates and produces the Jim Rome Show as well as owning the rights to use the name "Fox Sports" for it's radio network) are both owned by Clear Channel.

Edit: In fact Fox Sports Radio techinally goes off the air from 11-2 as it's expected that all Clear Channel owned sports radio stations will be airing Jim Rome.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that doing a 2 hour morning sports show, in the 80something market, on a station that has the range of 15 miles 1/2 of the year during your show, isnt going to appeal to many people outside the state.

population wise, the Des Moines market may be small, but from a sports angle, Des Moines is a HUGE market (Iowa, Iowa St., Big 10, Big 12, Northern Iowa football, Missouri Valley Basketball, Cubs, Cardnails, Royals, Twins, Vikings, Chiefs, Packers, Bears).

Local shows on sports are better than Mike and Mike and Rome Burns. They just are because they talk about in state happenings. Unless you are the type that want to hear about Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, and Nadahl, etc.

"Huge" may be a reach.

I'd be for this IF they understand that this is a college-first market and a local-first market.
In other words, they need to understand that ISU, Iowa, UNI, Drake take priority over all else. (in that order too:wink:)

Outside the market potentially means Matt Perrault part II.
