Yeah.. the way they get their product out is kinda like the Swan's thing. They will "hire" anybody cause you got to buy their product to be a salesperson.

But, that doesn't take away the quality.

Leno last night "reported" that they are making snuggies out of shamwows now. Just roll over any messes that come up

There was a Cutco booth last year at the Des Moines Home and Garden Show. I think they had a special show price but I'm not sure. I have no idea if they would be there again this year.

Nice knives...but man that was a trip down memory lane...my very first experience on a sales job and which jobs to stay away from.

Cutco...(vector marketing just googled it)...ha those the ones sold by door to door sales men? I remember taking an interview when I was like 17 with an opportunity to make big money. Basically sell to your family ask for 5 names and so on and so on. And you had to buy the knife set for like $175 bucks :biglaugh:...I passed but they did seem like good knives.

Yeah there marketing approach is a little different but hands down the best knives money can by. My parents have had theirs forever and we got a set from them for our wedding present. Guaranteed for life, now that is a guarantee I can get excited about.

The nice thing is once you buy there product you get there catalog in the mail every so often so you can just order stuff online.

Just got the Wusthof Classics for my wedding....they're awesome. The wife loved all of the other crap we got, but the knives are my favorite for sure.

Aren't the cutco knives all serrated?

No sir, and the ones that look serrated aren't serrated knives, they actually have what is call a double d edge that cuts very similar to a straight blade but stays sharper much longer. Out of the set that we have there is three straight blade knifes and the rest have the double d edge. My aunt is the one that sold them to my parents a long time ago but I still remember sitting through the presentation.

Does anyone else who has DirecTV watch "The Knife Show" on Friday nights? I find the guys on there selling knives to be absolutely hilarious.

Oh, and you should order your knives through them. :jimlad:

I own 1 cutco knife and the rest of my drawer is cheap k-mart crap and a couple stolen from food service back in the day.

I probably wash the cutco 4 days a week and the rest of the knives collect dust. Think it cost like $45 just for the one though. still sharp as ****

That's funny you mention it. I watched it the other night for about an hour and I still can't figure out why.

My wife only buys wusthof and they seem to be pretty good.

I'd be more inclined in buying a set like this for a good starter set.

Wusthof Classic 6 Piece Knife Block Set (Oak Block) WU-8416 on Sale with Free Shipping from MetroKitchen

They have a lot bigger sets but then you're talking big $$$. My wife got something like this with a big block and then we just buy a couple of knives every Christmas.

Ding, ding, ding!!!! Winner right here.

My wife and I bought each other Wuesthof in 1988, when we got married. Still use them, every day.

The price on these is cheap but we have had them for over 3 years(Yes not that long) and they are still working like the day we bought them. I figure if they work great for 4-5 years we have easily got our money back.

Ronco Six Star 25 Piece Knife Set

This could probably go in the thread about the late night ebay/qvc binge thread as well.
