It baffles me that this would surprise anyone.

Why is it so hard to understand that just because the guy is being a **** doesn't justify Pollard reacting in kind in a very public manner. He is the AD. I guarantee there are many fans that felt the same way that guy did without tweeting it too Jamie, and they all feel like Pollard is talking to them as well. I get that's not Pollard's intention, but as the AD he needs to know that's how many will take it. He essentially told everyone who wasn't immediately on board with the hire to GTFO.

Let's be honest here - the guy was a **** and Jamie was a ****. Difference being is the guy isn't the AD of a University that should be focused on getting people talking about how great the new hire is. Instead, people are talking about how the AD likes to stick his foot in his mouth.
Jamie should want people to come around to liking the new coach, especially donors, not calling them bad fans after the program they paid money to support just got less wins in 3 years than our in-state rival had before November.
3-4 times a day? Time to get a life!
I don't necessarily agree with Pollard getting in a ***** slapping contest with a guy on twitter, but I disagree with the bolded. Many people who disagree understand that on a globally public forum is not the place to express it and especially not directed at the target of your disdain. Pollard directed his disdain at one asshat who never learned anything about polite conversation. Many people who may have been disappointed at the hire will see someone spouting off inappropriately and not put themselves in that group with him.

Yeah, we're only here once a day. Just never leave
My quick take on this:
1) Jamie shouldn't have done that. Iowa State has amazing fans - fans who are as loyal as they come. He knows and appreciates this. Jamie is better than that and my guess is that he had a weak moment.
2) I'm not defending it but trust me, I understand it. I've had some weak moments on Twitter over the years that I wish I could have back, although mine are with Hawk fans 95 percent of the time. I get it only in the sense that when you get **** on and **** on and **** on over and over and over again, sometimes you just have a weak moment and respond in a way that you shouldn't. That's happened to me and I probably get 1/4 of what he gets. I made a vow to myself about two weeks ago that I was done with that type of stuff though and so far, I think I'm doing well!
Hopefully with the backlash he's gotten from this exchange, Jamie will do the same.
I LOVE how honest JP is. It's my favorite thing about the guy. He wears his heart on his sleeve, possesses some real bite and is great for ISU. Going after fans is a bad look though.
