I love it. You should be on Twitter how you are in real life. If this Dan fellow was a toolbag to JP in real life, I think JP would have responded exactly the same :twitcy:

Why is it so hard to understand that just because the guy is being a **** doesn't justify Pollard reacting in kind in a very public manner. He is the AD. I guarantee there are many fans that felt the same way that guy did without tweeting it too Jamie, and they all feel like Pollard is talking to them as well. I get that's not Pollard's intention, but as the AD he needs to know that's how many will take it. He essentially told everyone who wasn't immediately on board with the hire to GTFO.

I don't necessarily agree with Pollard getting in a ***** slapping contest with a guy on twitter, but I disagree with the bolded. Many people who disagree understand that on a globally public forum is not the place to express it and especially not directed at the target of your disdain. Pollard directed his disdain at one asshat who never learned anything about polite conversation. Many people who may have been disappointed at the hire will see someone spouting off inappropriately and not put themselves in that group with him.

He's on the site about 3-4 times a day, has been since it started almost 10 years ago.

Ok... I have a confession...

I wouldn't have done it if I were JP, but I do think it is funny.

Clueless idiots think they are important and have an opinion that matters all because they can throw something out there at someone that actually is important and does have an opinion that matters.

Let's be honest here - the guy was a **** and Jamie was a ****. Difference being is the guy isn't the AD of a University that should be focused on getting people talking about how great the new hire is. Instead, people are talking about how the AD likes to stick his foot in his mouth.

Jamie should want people to come around to liking the new coach, especially donors, not calling them bad fans after the program they paid money to support just got less wins in 3 years than our in-state rival had before November.

I don't think the guy was being a **** at all. The worst thing he said was "If it were up to me, this would be JP's last chance at getting it right". While not the nicest thing in the world, I don't call that being a ****. I bet if you pulled the fan base and asked "if in 5 years Campbell has only won 3-4 games each year, should JP be fired", a lot of them would say yes.

I just went back and reread his tweet. Jamie doesn't mention any issue with him airing grievances on twitter, just that he was critical 24 hours earlier. Honestly, the more I read the more I think it is meant for anyone who didn't immediately agree with the hire. Not sure there is any other way to interpret it.

Just out of curiousity, wouldn't someone have to have a registered username in order to know this? If an unregistered person viewed the site you wouldn't be able to tell who it was.

It is true, Pollard grasps the concept of Twitter about as well as a jilted 13-year-old. But hey, it could have been much worse. He could have tweeted his 2AM Google searches: http://www.iagiftshop.com/post/132935597516/when-an-iowa-democrat-senator-posted-youporn-to

Pollard might be a bit douchey at times, but he doesn't have to be a fan favorite. He needs to be cutthroat and prideful enough to do what's best for Iowa State and all athletic programs and make the deals happen behind the scenes. Let his associate ADs, head coaches, and marketing department win over the fans and put butts in the seats and eyes on the TVs.

My quick take on this:

1) Jamie shouldn't have done that. Iowa State has amazing fans - fans who are as loyal as they come. He knows and appreciates this. Jamie is better than that and my guess is that he had a weak moment.

2) I'm not defending it but trust me, I understand it. I've had some weak moments on Twitter over the years that I wish I could have back, although mine are with Hawk fans 95 percent of the time. I get it only in the sense that when you get **** on and **** on and **** on over and over and over again, sometimes you just have a weak moment and respond in a way that you shouldn't. That's happened to me and I probably get 1/4 of what he gets. I made a vow to myself about two weeks ago that I was done with that type of stuff though and so far, I think I'm doing well!

Hopefully with the backlash he's gotten from this exchange, Jamie will do the same.

I LOVE how honest JP is. It's my favorite thing about the guy. He wears his heart on his sleeve, possesses some real bite and is great for ISU. Going after fans is a bad look though.

Can you answer my question in post 233 please?

This! I've been a Pollard fan all along but to call out a fan and make it personal is B.S. This guy has supported Cyclone athletics as a season ticket holder since long before Pollard was here. My respect for Mr. Pollard just diminished emmensely. Completely immature.
