Initial College Football Playoff Rankings Released

If TCU is undefeated at the end of the year, I'd put money on Boykin winning the heisman. There is no way they would leave TCU out undefeated.
I know last year isn't supposed to figure into this, but that would make them something like 24-1 in the last two years? If they get left out it would be a major ****-up that will bring us an 8-team playoff.

A lot of people are assuming th BIG will get a team in and I don think so. I think Ohio st will lose to either Mich st or @Mich. if Iowa beats a one loss MSU or 1 loss tOSU then I can see the BIG not getting a team in. You are not guaranteed a spot in the playoff if you are undefeated and belong to a P5 conference. Iowa SOS in the acenerio would be in the 50's or so. Last year every team in the playoff had a SOS in top 10...every one. It's not about polls. It's about SOS..wins over top 25 teams(those in top 25 at the end btw) and eye test. If Notre Dame wins out they will get in. Clemson wins out they are in..winner of Bama/LSU will get in...that's 3.
If TCU wins @okie st this weekend the it will be that game @OU to decide whether they get in or not. Baylor is done. No way they can keep up with TCU scoring with a true frosh at QB and game is at TCU. I'm really intrigued by TCU game this weekend.

Can't imagine why they would be. They've got the world by the balls. They're in the top 10 with (I assume) the easiest remaining schedule of any P5 school. Win out and they most likely get a winner take all game with an undefeated tOSU or Sparty. No matter what we think i doubt they get left out of the playoff if that happens because, well...B1G. Even if they do they've by far exceeded anyone's expectations and should be happy with their season....and Ferentz's subsequent raise and contract extension.

Pac-12 is in serious trouble this year. They don't have any undefeated teams and Stanford isn't in the Top 10 and has a bad loss.
Having said that I don't understand the love for Clemson this year. Sure they've looked decent but they haven't beat anyone outside of Nortre Dame by 2pts. FSU next week will be only the second ranked team they've played with a bunch of easy ACC teams.

Just out of curiousity. We know how easy Iowa's remaining schedule is. We know the love for the SEC. If Iowa wins out and Florida wins out, does Florida jump iowa?
No they're not. These are not predictions, they are "right now, here are the top 4 teams" lists. That's why TCU dropped three spots after beating us by 50+ last year.
You do realize in the Massey Composite, which is all the computer rankings combined, that Alabama is ahead of TCU and Baylor too, right?

That isn't even close to true, even after playing Alabama and Oregon in the playoffs Ohio St's SOS was 29. Oregon's was 20th and FSU was 21st.

1. Most computer rankings have Alabama above TCU and Baylor.
2. If you put TCU and Baylor over Alabama, you're just encouraging every P5 team to schedule crappy teams and crush them. Alabama scheduled Wisconsin for their opener. Then they play in the SEC West which is the toughest division in college football. If you take them down for losing a close game to a ranked team, what kind of precedent does that set?
Use Notre Dame as an example. They schedule very tough and right now they have one loss, by two points, on the road, to the number one team. They have a loss, so does that mean they're worse than Iowa?
It will be interesting as it may come down to a one-loss Big XII team vs a one-loss Notre Dame. Neither will have the championship game. Notre Dame tried to schedule tough but they played a bunch of P5 teams that are down, UT, Georgia Tech, USC, Virginia.
I still wouldn't be counting out Baylor. They have dominate potential lines and offense. Throw in a new QB but a stud at that and I don't see a ton of drop off. It would be nice if either OU or OSU would lose to the other three top teams.

You do realize they changed computer formula/the bcs formula when they did away with it.

Here is what I know. The sec has higher rated teams which makes Bama schedule look tougher. Tech beat Arkansas and ou beat tennessee.
So if I keep inflating the ranking of the sec teams doesn't that guarantee they will have a tough schedule even if it isnt?
TCU was hosed last year. No way under the old bcs system they aren't top 4. Absolutely no way that happens.
And they are undefeated now with a win over a big ten team. See big ten teams ahead of them.

That's the problem with a four-team system when there are five major conferences--one of them is always going to end up ****ed every year, no matter what.
Add in Notre Dame being in the picture every 4-5 years, and then you have two conferences in that boat. Let's hope it's not an annual tradition with ours.

I have no problem with the rankings. Jeff Long already said the committee values offensive and defensive balance. That hurts the Big 12, same with not having that 13th game. Smart of Bowlsby to backload the schedule though. Even if Big 12 is shut out again, the round robin will help the Big 12 SOS, just like basketball, provided the non-conference schedule is increased more than other P5 conference teams. I heard the non-conf schedule is already done for the next 5 years though. Ugh.
I keep telling you all this thing is a joke simply by any quick rational glance of the makeup of the committee.
We have one dude, a Texas Tech AD with no name and no clout. No Big 12 team other than OU or Texas has any shot to make this unless they are the overwhelming dominant team in college football.
