Personally, I give Coach Prohm the benefit of the doubt on these issues. The EASY thing is to turn a blind eye. I honestly think he follows his principles and, especially in Lard's case, thinks of the young man's future at the risk of hurting his own W-L record. I'll take that end of the spectrum at my alma mater over the side that Rick Pitino inhabited.

But, man, I didn't see that coming and I wonder if he didn't dig up something recently. He'd been saying good things about Cam and only discussed Zoran's broken nose (IIRC).

We sure could've used those guys on the court in Maui. Ultimately, this will help our depth but could hurt our number of quality wins.

I guess my biggest issue is that we really are in the dark about what the issues are. I would think if it was something more serious something would have gotten out. A whole month suspension to me seems to be excessive for most infractions. I also think it is fair to question if the infractions are enough to warrant the length at least with Lard isn't it time to let him go. He's had multiple issues so if we are still talking serious violations of team rules why is he just suspended.

I know a lot of people trust Prohm, but he has had player discipline issues basically every year. Is he being to soft and letting people continue to get away with stuff, or is he being to strict? I think it is more than reasonable to say that there are discipline issues with his style. Hopefully it all works out.

Why do people need to know? It's in the best interest for the players if the public isn't in the know of their mistakes

I fully expect to get all the dislikes and disagree but this is crazy. I get you have to set a standard for your program, but expand on why you are sitting kids for a month. I get Lard but what did Talley do?

There were no arrests so are you suspending them for missing class, late for practice, smoking weed?

This just all seems extremely harsh. DUI’s you miss a few games. Show me another program that suspends kids for an entire month.

This is actually pretty spot on.

Maybe it's just not appropriate to elaborate but a month is a long time.

I'm guessing Talley did something really bad

I think a lot of programs have player issues every year that never get disciplined - Prohm isn't one to let them slide like {insert blue blood program coach's name here}

IF Lewis and Griffin play well then I don’t think Talley matters. They have similar physical attributes and there aren’t minutes for all 3, especially when Lard and Solo come back. If Lard comes back. And we need him badly against power 5 opponents.

We don't necessarily need to know but DUIs are what 3 games? That would mean it is worse and not something illegal since we haven't heard there. The pattern of discipline issues is also a factor. I can't say whether he is being lenient or strict, but a month suspension for two players is really uncommon.

I understand that dicipline is important and lessons need to be learned, but I think I’m going to be real uneasy if we go to Maui without Cam and Talley. And if we lose a close one in a really big game out there, it’s going to sting for the rest of the year.

I can think of a million things worse to your team than an OWI. OWI is 3 games because that's the rules at ISU

Different year, same ****. Prohm has McDermott type luck.

I’m guessing Lard’s is related to this summer.

It's not about luck. He choose to suspend them for 7 games and two exhibitions (25% of the year) The head coach chooses to devalue the non-conference in exchange for getting the team "right" in February. It is a necessary thing at Murray State (one bid conference) but it will cost us an NCAA tournament some year at Iowa State. Need to beat Missouri on Friday.

Are you serious Clark? This isnt Lard or Talley's first suspension. The way he handled the McKay situation was a detriment to 16's team.

The way McKay handled the situation was a detriment to that team. Is this serious? He was 100% cleared by every doctor but still refused to practice and whined when he didn't get playing time

Jameel acted like an 8 year old, and I loved him here, and still root for him.

Prohm wants to win more than anyone involved in the program. He's not "devaluing" anything

Makes it easy to see how programs sweep things under the rug when people happily turn a blind eye to transgressions (or criticize the coaches for punishing them).

Pretty sure Lard and Talley knew exactly what was coming well before tonight, and they're still here. If they continue to toe the line, then we'll have them back with a little more developed depth than we otherwise would have had.
