And, the QB they seem to have pivoted to after Jett. Visited the same day as Jacobson (6/17).

Haven’t watched much of his Hudl yet,but seems to have a smooth, accurate arm with good strength. Also a HS pitcher with a 90+ mph fastball.

I think we are recruiting him at safety, maybe. Is Kaprice Keith coming in as a CB?
No way. Bryson Williams is more likely to be a corner, and I don’t think so.

Either Zayas is an alternate to Darion Jones as the second corner in the class, or he’s a third wideout.

Actually, purely as a playmaker he kinda reminds me of Marcus Neal in HS.

Thanks! I was wondering about that.

I hadn’t heard of the school before, but apparently they’re outside of Tulsa, and Class 6A.

His Hudl highlights are surprisingly short (3 minutes), but he has a smooth arm, and I watch him hit a fifty yard pass in stride with no effort, not even stepping g into it.

Our staff really identifies under the radar talent!

Afuye is most definitely a pass rusher.

And, the pass rush will be fine this year. Not least, without having to stay in their lanes to help compensate for the green linebackers.

I don’t think everyone grasps how much the linebackers corps being so badly injured affected every single other position on the defense.
You are right, but i will say this.

Joey Peterson was our leading sack guy last year at 3 sacks, that just isn't good enough.

We were around 115th in sacks nationally last year. Since Will McDonald and Enyi Uwazurike went to the NFL, we have not seen a defensive end / interior guy, really flash as a pass rusher.

I think to dismiss it as "we'll be fine at DE" is overconfidence in that group. I am still skeptical. I'm also skeptical that other teams are recruiting against us in that "you don't want to play DE at Iowa State because they do a 3 man front, your sack numbers will be brutal." I'm confident that is happening.

Agree but Bacon would have made a massive difference there.

I’m reasonable sure that expecting the defense to return to their usual standard of the past seven or eight seasons, sans injury, is distinctly not “overconfidence”.
