I was at ISU from 97-01 and during finals week you could get a large 4 topping pizza for $4.44 from Home Team Pizza. The cheapest pizza by far was the 3 medium one topping pizzas for $9.99 from dominos.

It looks like Home Team still existed in Omaha fairly recently, but it has since changed its name to "Night Flight Pizza".

I miss home team. $5 got you a medium pizza and 2 cans of pop iirc.

Gumby's deserved to close. They'd take their phone off the hook so it'd ring busy whenever it got busy or they felt like going home early. And there is no contest, Jeff's smotherella sticks are much better than pokey stix anyways.

I once dealt with a pizza chain that did the exact same thing.

They closed at 9. If it was past 8:15 they would NEVER answer their phone. They were a block away so if it was after 8 I would go there in person and order the pizza. Go home for a half hour, then come back and get it. Much more efficient than trying to call for 30-45 minutes and no answer...and no pizza.

Interesting. I typed in hometeampizza.com in the past and got them, but didn't know it used to be the same place there.

Wrong, Jeff's tastes like cardboard with a side of horrible sauce to dip them in.

I will give them better pizza award though.

Yeah, Lucky Pizza and Video. I was a manager there, some nights got real crazy and if you thought it was hot up front, the kitchen was twice as hot. But you couldn't beat the Fri and Sat night carry out special. Medium cheese pizza and cheesebread for $5, add a topping for a buck. Had some fun times there but I finally took a real job in Des Moines and not even two weeks later the owner closed the place down. Place was run on a shoe string budget, my first week as a manager the owner offered to sell the business to me.

I knew I should have just come to CF to find the answer to my afternoon question!

I had Jeff's only once and thought it was mediocre. I had ordered a large though so i had leftovers the next morning. That pizza was by far the best cold leftover pizza i've ever had. Not sure how it happened but that night in the fridge made it taste pretty good!

1972 - 1974 Pizza House on Lincolnway just west of Welch had pretty good pizza, plus free refills on soda. They had to be the first "free refills" restaurant I ever saw. Of course back then, if you had a car, Shakeys was really popular!

I loved Shakey's growing up. Went to one in California a couple years ago for nostalgic purposes.

I worked my way through ISU at Happy Joe's. We always knew we would be busy on Wednesday nights since Hank ran the $8 coupon in the Daily every Wednesday. If the weather was bad on a Wednesday we would get absolutely crushed.

Yes, bottomless glasses. Still around and popular during my stint 1976-80. I was cleaning out some old boxes and found some old check book registers. I think a medium pizza was $2.76. Delivered.

DaVinci's had the best subs. Don't think I've had a better one since then.

And I loved Rocky Rococo's. Not everyone did, but my roommates and I all loved it.
