Speaking of birds LittleWx wanted to build a bird house. Should probably get that done this weekend.

Our water curb cap thing came off over the winter so the city is finally out to fix it. The kids are mesmerized watching them jack hammer and dig up the driveway.

I read the article after I unblocked my ad blocker and answered 3 questions. I lived in Forest City for a few years and kind of covered supervisor meetings when I was news director for the radio station. I think the Globe Gazette should employ a competent copy editor, "He said he hadn't been drinking since until Tuesday."
But then, I think that about nearly all newspapers today.
When I read that it made me think he had quit drinking and Tuesday was the first time he had a drink in a while. (Apparently more than one)

I have more experience with alcoholics than I care to remember. This "I just fell off the wagon" comment sounds like one of many alcoholic lies and rationalizations I have heard. He may have very well just fallen off the wagon that day, but more likely he had fallen off a while ago and finally just got caught.

I hope he can get it back together. Alcoholism is a terrible disease and alcoholics constantly get looked down on more than many other disorders.

Biking kept me from going cray cray last spring. This May it's bird/photo walkabouts. Too wet to work on the garden, probably for a few weeks, damn it's wet.

My old man eyes managed to spot a nighthawk crouched down tight to a tree branch near dusk. Never saw one before but knew what it was.

And new Nikon coming tomorrow too. :D I will probably be excite.
I bought the Canon 80D a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday was the first time I took it out and went over to Heron Haven here in town to try to get some shots. Lots of features that I need to figure out. Only saw the one heron and it was pretty far away. Had to zoom in as much as I could. I should go to the zoo some time and see if I can find something to shoot down there.

Bought a used 80 - 400mm Nikon lens (not their proline but serious upgrade over the kit 55-300mm zoom I had) a couple weeks ago. Am upgrading camera to a D7500. The next step up is D500 just didn't seem worth it. The "flagship" D500 seemed overkill. The D7500 is marketed as "enthusiast" level which seems to fit me.

Trying to remember this:

Beginners blame their lens.
Enthusiasts blame their camera.
Pros know it's the light.

Grrr, I keep typing lense when I mean lens. GD grammar Nazi's are going to be all over me. Someone with a brain wired like mine should have an editor.

Take those starlings OUT! They are an invasive species!
We had a nest with three baby pileated woodpeckers about 15 feet from our balcony (we could hear them peeping & could see them when they poked their fuzzy little heads out of the hole) and the damned starlings killed the babies & took over the nest. I was SO pissed!

I also bought the 18-135 lens with the 80D. I'll also stick to the 70-300 and 18-55 basic lens' that came with the T6 I bought a few years ago until I break down and buy something longer and better. I really need to just be able to get out and play with it. Mike Browne seems to have a lot of useful videos on YouTube. He'll show you different exercises you can do to see how the different settings give you different shots.

I think your looking for geoguessr. It is still up they monetized it heavily, $2/month for the ad free version. probably 10 sec between rounds for the free version. Once I looked it up I had to play a round.

I went to it and don't think that it. All I found there is like an actual picture of some random unrecognizable spot and had to guess. One I'm thinking of gave a city or landmark and you had guess where it was on a map while a clock was quickly counting down. I should of bookmarked it when it appeared here on cf.

Channeling my inner Chaser waiting for my camera package. Probably miss it today since I am going to go walkabout again. Needs to be signed for, maybe tomorrow.

He's gonna need to bring some friends to make that one a go.
It's the U.S. History since 1877 course, the only web-blended, second-half semester one they're offering in Ankeny.
It doesn't have any name attached but "staff," because doing things is hard.
I thought "staff" was your pron star pseudonym.
