Totally agree. I wonder who is on JPs short list for BB coach when this whole experiment falls flat on its face which given his lack of recruiting and basketball knowledge is any day...

The OP is right, now is the time to panic.

I'm more concerned with how competitive we'll be for the 2018-2019 season. We have zero (0) commits for that season thus far, and no players on our current team will still be at Iowa State. How will Fred exploit mismatches and maximize a 7-man rotation with no players?

There could be some holes to fill if Fred completely fails at recruiting the next year and a half. I don't see that happening though. I look for Fred to find at least one athletic big name for the next signing period. At times it would be nice to get another HS big man, so he could play for more than 1-2 years, but I am not going to worry about what CFH does, he seems to have more answers than any of us.
Holes to fill.. Lols

It's more than just the OP. Every other week there is some stupid *** thread about:

1. If Hoiberg were to leave, who would be his replacement?
2. Is BDJ too flashy?
3. What are going to do if Niang and/or Morris leave early?
4. Should Custer/Tsalmpouris redshirt/get more minutes?
5. Will Custer be ready to step in if Morris gets injured or leaves after this year.

We're only 2 games into the season. Why are people worrying about these things? Fred has this under control and I'm sure he has a plan. There is nothing we can do about any of these things anyway, so just enjoy the rest of the season (lot of games to be played).

Half the basketball threads are about things that have not happened, BDJ's shot selection, or some other nitpicky crap about last game. Just seems like people are going way overboard, but I don't totally blame them. I think they're just carrying over the football attitude into basketball season.
Did you also notice Hogue plays with a toothpick in his mouth and Niang's game may be affected by his weight loss..
Now let's go kick the Tide's butts!!

topics like this are when this board goes full internet and jumps all over someone instead having a rational "what if" discussion. we are fans. there is nothing wrong with hypothesizing about the past or future.

Anyone else worried for 2016-17 and beyond? Cupboard looks pretty bare. We lose Hogue and BDJ this year. Our Junior class this year is loaded with Niang, McKay, Naz, Nader. Morris might go pro before he becomes a senior. Would've been nice to redshirt Naz his freshman year to balance these classes.

Assuming Morris goes pro early, that leaves Thomas, SDW, Cooke, Custer, Darien Williams, the Greek, and Kourtlin. That's banking a lot on massive improvement from our existing guys, and landing some major talent in the transfer market. Just seems like we whiffed on the 2015 class by only signing 1 guy in Williams. I know we're probably reserving schollies for transfers, but it's probably safe to say we may have a transfer or two of our own that frees up some schollies, so was keeping those scholarships free really necessary? Considering we have someone transfer out every year. Bluford and Percy last year, Okoro two years ago, Railey and Sledge three years ago, etc.

So am I crazy to be a little worried for 2016 and beyond? Or should I just trust Hoiball.

I agree with the OP, to add to that we haven't signed anyone for 2018-19 yet. The middle-schoolers are our future, if they won't yet sign what will we do?
