I think the OP is also assuming that no one on the roster develops in the however many months it is between now and then. After watching Ejim, Diante, Naz, Hogue, Babb, McGee, etc. develop over the last few year that is a stupid assumption.

Didn't some of the players who left transfer because they weren't playing? And how many of them were originally Hoiberg's?

Is there anyone out there who thinks Railey should have stayed?

Somewhere in the U.S.
This is Fred's 5th year. Every year he has been here, the teams (and expectations) have improved. I have never heard any commentator or pundit say that Fred is incapable of developing players, or getting the most out of the players.

Yet......we get a thread like this. Could ISU take a step back at some point? Sure. Is it likely? I see nothing to indicate that at all.

I heard CFH turned down a five star prospect in the juniors 6-7yo division at my local park and recreation league. Who does that?!?

Who does that?!?! That kid is already 4'9" and can dunk on the playskool bouncy basket. I'm disgusted!

I'm more worried about how the class of 2032 will adjust to the new 4 point line. Haven't heard Fred say anything about his plan on that, so I'm already worried.

You should calm down. Fred's team will easily lead the nation in 4's in 2032. I have a feeling Fred would be highly supportive of a 4-pointer

Life must suck when you worry too much about the future, that you cannot enjoy the moment.

I’m not worried, because I can see a pattern, and it’s working well so far.

Here’s a basic Hoiberg categorical blueprint, not including players Fred inherited, with examples of each (unproven players for 2014-15/2015-16 in parentheses):

  • Freshman with long-term potential as “foundation playerâ€￾: Niang, Morris (Custer).
  • Freshman with potential for long-term impact, slightly delayed: Long, Thomas.
  • High-impact one-year transfer: White, Clyburn, Kane (Dejean-Jones).
  • Juco/transfer who develops into quality/impact contributor: Babb, McGee, Hogue (Nader, McKay, Cooke, Williams)
  • Solid one-year transfer: Anderson, Allen, Lucious.
  • Transfer/juco with “supplementalâ€￾ qualities: Booker, Edozie.
  • Wild card: Sherron Dorsey-Walker, The Greek Formerly Known as Tsalmpouris.
