Not an offensive coordinator, but Gene Chizik isn't too far off from what you're asking... ISU could've have been luckier than Auburn taking that piece of work off our hands.

Gene Chizik IS far off. Jamie Pollard just threw Chizik a contract extension. Not even comparable.

No one's saying that he wouldntve had plenty of reason to take that job.

That doesnt mean AT ALL that he wasnt pushed out. He couldve been nudged to look for other opportunities, and he hit a home run getting the OSU job. You act like the two things are mutually exclusive, that OSU would never hire him if he'd been pushed out. But from their end all they see is a guy looking for other opportunities.

We have no proof either way. I couldve seen Rhoads letting him go (it seems a bit early, but it was contract renewal time.. either do it now or pay more to break it later), or i could definitely have seen him being kept on.

I think most on here fail to realize how close the coaching community is. If Tom Herman was being nudged out that most would know about it and Urban Meyer wouldn't hire him as his OC.

And Tom Herman wasn't nudged out as OC of Iowa State. If the OSU job didn't come calling he would have been the OC in 2012

I think it is comparable. We don't know about Herman.

There are two side, that Herman's contract wasn't renewed and that he had an extension waiting for him after the season. Meyer wouldn't have known anymore than we do. If he was forced out, Rhoads and Pollard would have never told Meyer that.

If anything, Chizik failed even more than Herman did, at least from an outside standpoint. At least Herman can show improvement over the 3 years he was OC, Chizik couldn't do that. Believe it or not, firing or keeping coaches at location B doesn't mean anything to the administration at location A. Just look at the coaches at Kansas and Tech and North Texas and should I go on.

edit- we would have heard more if the whole coaching community knew about it.

This is kind of the bizzaro thread for the Tebow one. So similar, yet different.

No because the Ohio State's of the world don't hire guys that schools like Iowa State want to get rid of. It doesn't happen and to think otherwise is naive.

But that doesn't mean that just b/c a guy coaches at OSU that he can coach at ISU. Case in point, Barney Cotton. It's not one or the other.

Listen, I'm not a Herman fan. I don't think he did a great job at ISU. I said the same after we beat Oklahoma State. Go back and look at my posts. His 21 ppg will easily be replaced. With that said, he would have been back last year and we weren't getting rid of him. The thought that we were getting rid of him so Ohio State of all schools picked him up is laughable.
You're wrong. I already showed you the proof in your special little club ........where people go to feel important. What a crock......you and your special little club.

I'd say rebecacy earned some credibility after the whole conference realignment fiasco.
'85 and his special buddies can't stand it!!! No one can know more than the given few. And some of us do and it drives them crazy.

100 years of evidence? Give me 1 example in the history of college football where a big time school has hired an offensive coordinator after a smaller school got rid of him.

Iowa State did NOT get rid of Tom Herman
Yes they did. He was told his contract would not be renewed. Common knowledge amongst those in the know. You aren't. And you ****** off your best source.

Never posted once in the expansion threads. Never swore OU was going to the Pac 12. You make up stuff and hope it sticks. It's your MO and has been for years. Its ok that you are wrong about Herman. Herman was not told his contract would not renew. Keep making up things. Please show that fake CPR email again. He got a big chuckle when he heard about that one.

I'll take my track record anyday. There is no fighting idiots. And you have no clue what any coach thinks except in your little dream world.

Haha what track record? The one where you said the endzone would be bowled in? The one where you called out CPR earlier this season when we were losing? The one where you claimed Pollard sent out a special message to big donors that was later proven you made up? Once again, what track record? The one where you keep making up new screen names?
