You know, if Baylor was made promises by the rest of the league that we would add a team and stay together, but they needed to agree to A&M departing first, and then you have Oklahoma's president openly saying they're looking at the the Pac 12, I don't think you can really blame Baylor here. You can blame OU, but Baylor is simply looking out for its very survival.

Exactly. That's why everyone waived their right to sue, because a week ago the prevailing thought was 'get them out so we can add teams'. Now that its clear that adding likely isnt happening, i dont blame baylor at all for backing out, and if we dont have a landing spot, we should probably be following baylor's lead.

Actually, i wonder if we'd have something against OU, if they were talking to the PAC all while giving assurances that the conference would stay together.

I think if Baylor hadn't forced their hand a long time ago when the conference began and the Big XII would have got Arkansas instead, we might not have ended in this mess. Hard to tell, but I hold a grudge against Baylor for this... And for beating us in the Big XII tourney when Tinsley was a senior.

Not Baylor's fault. We would have lost to a Lickliter led Iowa team that day.

I'm happy that Baylor is doing what they are doing and feel bad for them if they don't have a landing spot (unless they take our landing spot for some reason).

Exactly. Who can blame them? I think this whole thing is silly and the best thing for everyone involved was for the B12 to stay in tact.

SEC release on Texas A&M and Big 12 letter | Facebook

It says at least one. most assume it is Baylor. I am also assuming that letter was signed by everyone assuming that Big 12 was staying together (sans OU and MU).
Everyone assumes Baylor. Why not UT who does not want to go Pac 12? Why not OU and Stoops who now is willing to play a chanmpionship game? Why not Missouri who does not match up yto SEC? Why not KSU who may not want the BE? Frankly, most landing spots are inferior to what they had in B12.

Maybe the Great White Hope was BYU to the B12, and OU found out that would not happen.

I don't know why the Big 12 schools would agree to not take legal action against A&M in the first place. If it is threatening the future of your schools ability to be in a BCS conference I would never agree to not sue.

I made a small addition to your comment...

Yeah, it was a pathetic showing. After buying all my tickets the year before from a losing teams fan during the title run, I decided to invest in all session passes the Baylor year. I was still in college at the time so a pretty big investment. Proceeded to scalp the rest of the sessions for under face then lost all that money at the casino...

Alright, I won't derail the thread any further.

Baylor is essentially acting as the legal arm for the Longhorns (and for $)

Interesting that the North teams agreed to the waiver w/o making a stink.

All must have landing spots. ISU has been esp quiet.

Technically, it would be suing the SEC not A&M directly. Pretty difficult to sue a state entity.

Don't blame Baylor at all, or if it is someone else, fine by me. Idiotic to waive your right to sue.

I am now blaming OU more for this. Not to mention, think of all the NCAA violations they have had over the years, and the slaps on the wrist. You just know OU is dirty. So I blame them.

I have trouble seeing the logic in the agreement. Who really believes they can trust any of these schools? Why remove any of the possible responses to their possible actions?

IF we go to the BigEast, I would like to see ISU kick everyone's ***** in football and basketball just to shut up the ISU naysayers across the nation that have shown an egegious lack of respect to Iowa State University.

If this realignment drama can't put a little extra fire under our coaches and players *****, I don't know what can. I'm confident they'll deliver.

aTm probalby agreed to the settlement payment amount, in exchange for the waiver from the lawsuit, anyway you look at it, the fact that any school would not waive the right to sue tells me the Big 12 is history, because someone is getting left out in the changes that are coming. I am not a lawyer, but I have done enough deals to know that whoever is unhappy and is getting screwed will never have more leverage than yesterday afternoon to try and get a bigger $$ settlement.

If the North does have other offers, maybe we still make the move. The North schools collapse the Big 12. That would serve all of the state of Texas right for F'ing this whole thing up.

That's what it seems like to me too. Baylor never belonged with the "big boys" anyway.
People say that about ISU as well. I'm hoping ISU will end up in a good (profitable) conference situation when all is said and done with this realignment fiasco.
