I have no ill will against James. This however furthers my belief that family members or really close friends posting on fan sites very rarely ends well. Capello made an *** of his kid. I hope James has a successful college career in Ohio closer to home (something Justin Hamilton could learn the meaning of).

How so?

It's probably better for them all... The way his family posted and fretted about this stuff was unhealthy.

Good luck James. Never would have guessed he would have scored more TDs in a career than Bo Williams.

Exactly. There's a reason why athlete's parents posting on a message board (or at least being open about their identity while they do it) is the exception not the rule.

His family took offense that us fans didn't consider him a legit candidate for being the starter this year... Tried to convince us it was going to happen.

IMO, they worried too much about what other people thought, and that's confirmed by the way they posted.

Other family members of other players usually come on here and are like "we had a great time, you are great fans, etc", but his family came on here with an axe to grind, IMO.

I'm sorry to hear this. I really liked James' attitude and work ethic. Good luck to him. I hope his family continues to visit the board and lets us know how he is doing.

Good luck to James. He gave it his best shot and represented ISU well. I can fully understand his desire to transfer and wish him well wherever he goes. James did things the right way. He stuck it out through Spring ball and decided it was best to transfer at this time. Phil Bates did it the wrong way. Bates decided to quit the team during the season. Big difference IMO.

That's your opinion. I don't recall him guaranteeing his kid was ever going to be an all-american, or even the starter. He said his kid was willing to work hard and wanted to be on the field and I don't see that as being inflamatory in any way. Like I said, it didn't work out and I wish James and his family well.

There are plenty of people that should step away from the keyboard from time to time....that club isn't exclusive to family and friends of players.

Good luck to him, I think we would have started next year or the year after, but I'm sure he'll excell at the FCS level.

I had NO problem with his father posting, it was nice to hear from him. I'm sure the coaches are straight up with players on their opportunities, and most would rather play than sit. It wish him and his family all the best. He should be a successful QB, and certainly held up his end with Iowa State last year running the opposing teams offenses. Good luck to all. And I hope posters will show a bit more respect to this kid and his family. There have been some tacky posts.

Did I miss something? His family member that posted on CF about James never said anything to make an *** out of him. We were provided with insight into James personal desire to work his butt off to try to win the starting job at ISU. Nothing wrong with that at all. The posts were respectful and to the point. His family from what was posted enjoyed their time in Ames, enjoyed meeting fellow ISU fans, etc... Much like TheCity, I enjoyed reading the posts giving us a bit more insight into the players time at ISU.

Hopefully we will get some updates on how he is doing with his new football program.

They really did have a ax to grind... Like this thread they started... I guess its all how you want to take it....

This was the first time that i was disaponted at some cyclone fans. I was warned what to say on this forumn but sometimes you just can't shut up!!.One poster said Capello will never see the field, what does he know that we do not? This came from our high school coach who watched all of ISU games this year and was very disapointed that James did not get to throw.he is very blunt, and honest and he said James can play at this level and in this offense,he already did it for four years. But we just want him to get a fair shake this spring if he wins it fine if not fine as long as it is fair. He will work his *** off this summer and hopefully win all the matt drills just like this year.He went andf spoke to PR and asked what he needs to do to win this job, and he said it was a very good talk and honest. He said he wants it so bad and is willing to work for it. So cyclone fans don't dispare we have Q/Bs that can get the job done. You know who i am and i'm anxious to hear your remarks, but don't count someone out just because they were not given the chance to throw in a game yet. I don't believe JC has forgotten everything he has been doing now for the past six years. Thanks for a great year true cyclone fans.
