This was the first time that i was disaponted at some cyclone fans. I was warned what to say on this forumn but sometimes you just can't shut up!!.One poster said Capello will never see the field, what does he know that we do not? This came from our high school coach who watched all of ISU games this year and was very disapointed that James did not get to throw.he is very blunt, and honest and he said James can play at this level and in this offense,he already did it for four years. But we just want him to get a fair shake this spring if he wins it fine if not fine as long as it is fair. He will work his *** off this summer and hopefully win all the matt drills just like this year.He went andf spoke to PR and asked what he needs to do to win this job, and he said it was a very good talk and honest. He said he wants it so bad and is willing to work for it. So cyclone fans don't dispare we have Q/Bs that can get the job done. You know who i am and i'm anxious to hear your remarks, but don't count someone out just because they were not given the chance to throw in a game yet. I don't believe JC has forgotten everything he has been doing now for the past six years. Thanks for a great year true cyclone fans.

I believe with all my heart that the QB position in spring will be wide open. I think who ever performs, wins it. JT has a little more game experience, but JC has been in the game and may prove the best option.

I'm looking forward to a good competition this spring. I have to think the coaching staff will evaluate all options and go with whoever they feel is the best option to win games.

FWIW, most people posting on here don't really know what they're talking about anyway - which is what makes this site so entertaining!

All that matters is what the coaches are saying. As a fan, I just want to see the best QB on the field.

I know it is hard, but in time you find what other families of players have learned, it is best to ignore internet message boards. Plenty of people who don't have a frickin clue will post quite frequently here and elsewhere. I'm sure the job will be wide open this spring and I hope whoever wins it can lead our team/school to bigger and better things.

JC is going to have every opportunity to win the starting job next year. I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do. It is obvious the staff thinks very highly of him or they wouldn't have offered him a scholarship to come to ISU. He is going to get his chance and I hope he takes full advantage of it. No matter how things shake down at the QB position next fall for the Cyclones we are glad to have JC as a member of the ISU football team and look forward to seeing him do some great things in the future.

You'll be much better off avoiding message boards or at least posting under another handle.

Anonymous internet message boards are not generally not that kind. Especially after a loss. Please don't take too much offense to anything that is said here. It happens everywhere; just remember that all fanbases have their fair share of idiots.

That said, best of luck to your son as he continues his Cyclone career. He'll have as good of a chance as anyone in the QB race next season.

Go Cyclones!

Anyone that thinks they know who the QB will be next year is absolutely crazy. No one knows. Some throw JT under the bus and says he has no chance and others are high on QBs that they have never seen. Reality is there will be a tight QB competition next spring and I have no doubt that everyone will get a fair shake.

That's the wonderful thing about message boards. Someone can log in and spout off at the mouth without any accountability.

I truly believe that the QB position will be wide open this spring and the best QB will get the job. Not the guy with the most game experience, or the guy who's been around longer.

I expect the race to be wide open, but I think Tiller will win it, with Capello and Barnett fighting for #2. I don't think it will be by a wide margin though. It wouldn't stun me to see any of those 3 starting, and we might even have a battle that goes into fall.

They all better hope that the receivers start catching the damn ball though.

There are idiots in every fan base. It's really just sad that some people are like that. I have to laugh when people, here and in the stands, start ******** about one player or another. Guys the other night were behind us complaining. Everybody was jsut laughing at them. You mean to tell me that a) you could do better on the field than a D-1 athlete and b) you know better than the coaches? People like that are ***** and need to be ignored.

. . . One poster said Capello will never see the field, what does he know that we do not?

Nothing. He knows nothing, not a darn thing. If he has bona fides, the guy should state them ("I've been to practices"; "the coaches told me"; etc.). He made the comment from thin air, without perspective. Why do human beings do that? So irritating.

My theory is that James did not become known as a commitment until just prior to signing day. Correct? Not much information about James flowed to the fan base. At the time, I watched James' highlights video and became enthused that he was coming to ISU. Loved his arm; loved his scrambling; loved his savvy. The No. 1 rated quarterback in Pennsylvania? And ISU wanted him? You bet.

I'm so darn happy that fans don't have input about who starts and who doesn't. <g> I'm a big fan of JC's because some fans here don't know much about him so jump to unwarranted conclusions, because James has talent, and because from every indication he has a big heart (he's transformed himself in the weight room, you mentioned he wants the job so bad he'll work his rear end off).

I haven't yet watched Jared Barnett's film highlights, so in my mind I haven't given him the attention that I have James (of no importance to anyone but me, of course). JT, JC, JB . . . may the best man win the job fairly.

Matt drills? What are those? Would you mind describing them?

I can say that i'm excited to see who will come out on top of the QB race this next spring. I believe that the coaching staff will put in who they think is the best guy for the job.

FWIW, on my online dynasty Capello is my QB and has about 3000 yds passing :D

I think the QB job is wide open, and won't be settled in spring practice. We may not even have a solid #1 heading into our first game. Tiller has never impressed me (the guy knows how to "not lose" us games, but we need a QB that will "win" for us), and we just don't know anything about Capello or Barnett right now.

Anybody that thinks that we have a clear cut #1 starter as of right now is full of it.

I think the most interesting thing going into next year is the QB race as well as who will be playing the two safety spots. Here's my thoughts on the QB race:

1. It will be wide open.
2. Whoever wins it will have to earn it this offseason. My hope is that they all push each other.
3. I would bet we will not know who the starting QB is until after at least the first game. I think we could see 2, maybe even 3 QBs get action in that game and not just garbage time. I think it will be that close.
4. I don't think Sam Richardsen sees the field next year. I think he will be RSed.
5. I honestly believe Tiller will be the first guy out there next year. I don't hope I'm wrong and I don't hope I'm right. I thought he threw the ball pretty darn well against Mizzou. You add the 6 drops as completions and his line looks a lot better. He isn't afraid to give his receivers the opportunity to make plays. Sometimes that's what you have to do. Someone isn't going to be open all of the time but on one play he gave Jake a shot to make the play and he did. He did it with money and Lez as well and they didn't.

How could you say Tiller wins it when we put up a grand 0 points up last week. That'll win you ball games. :jimlad:

Our coaches will play the kids that give us the best chance to win. If someone isn't getting the job done, they will be replaced. We saw that this year with guys like Lattimer and Maggit. It doesn't matter what fans, high school coaches, parents, girlfriends, ticket takers or marching band members think. It all comes down to what the coaches decide.

I hope this is not the case. I would want 1 guy to standout and win the spot before the first game.
