2025 GA Parking Scalpers??

Honest question, are the grass lots truly filling up every week? Guess its hard to tell since they likely were not sold out vs USD.. then Cyhawk...

Seems to me like scalpers buy up all the passes..

I understand its my fault for not planning which games I could go to ahead of time.. but I have a 3 and 6 yo and have to drive from Sioux Falls..

Having to pay 150+ for a pass that cost 25 last year is a hard pill to swallow.

Anyone have experience with haunted forest parking this year? Has traffic flow post game been ok? Thanks in advance for any advice!

FYI thinking this year we will be there to watch clones go 5-0 on 9/27 and homecoming 10/25.

Williams & Blum: 4-0 start, Arkansas State recap, undefeated day for the Big 12

On Williams & Blum Sunday, Chris Williams and Brent Blum react to Iowa State‘s 24-16 win over Arkansas State and put a bow on the “first quarter” of the season. Then the fellas react to an undefeated day in the Big 12 and guess the point spreads.

Tre Bell Interception

Was anyone else impressed with that Tre Bell interception yesterday? Good Lord! Man, he put on the extra jets to beat the man he was covering to the ball by a couple paces and made an incredible diving catch. That was a big play and snuffed out Arkansas State's chances.

I've watched him exclusively on a couple plays while at JTS, and he looks really good. The tackle he made in the Iowa game for a loss was filthy and that interception yesterday. We may have another one of these two-sport athletes who decides to get serious at football late in his career and becomes a next-level NFL type guy. He's certainly made some eye-popping plays so far and seems to be getting better at coverage every week. Exciting.

ISU v. Arkansas St. Game Thoughts

We are 4-0 and what a thrill that is. I am in general a happy camper and do not want to come across as the entitled fan. I'll include some positive and constructive thoughts below for offense and defense.

Offense
  • Carson and Abu were rolling yesterday and the ground game looks really good. O line blocking is opening holes and Carson Hansen is probably one of the better short yardage backs in the league / nationwide.
  • On the heels of the above, I really did not like throwing at the two yard line, doing play action and then Rocco gets sacked at the 10. Against an inferior foe just hand it off to Hansen and let him plow into the endzone.
  • Tyler Moore at TE had a great game and was strong after the catch
  • Xavier Townsend seems to be waking up and getting more comfortable, he has serious speed and looked great on the 44 yard catch and pass.
  • Both Keaton Roskop 85, and Cooper Alexander 87 were good at TE, they helped a ton in the running game with outside the lane blocking.
  • Ben Brahmer looked a little off in the game. Jim Bonifas at center also looked off and got mixed around some. Chase Sowell dropped a big 3rd down completion and I think Campbell should think about utilizing guys ahead of him. Carson Brown catches everything and may take his snaps
  • Eskildsen has a walk in touchdown if first pass of the game is accurate, I continue to like the separation Eskildsen creates.
  • I'm starting to think that Ben Brahmer is a fantastic red zone threat for catching TDs, but Gabe Burkle is just as valuable to this team, need him back for the Big 12. Gabe does everything well.
Defense
  • We clamped down inside the 35 yard line and did what Heacock does best. Give up yards but don't give up many td's. I didn't love giving up 385 yards to a Sunbelt team..
  • Tre Bell at cornerback is staring to come out of his shell. He has good size, cover ability, and had a nice interception.
  • Alijah Carnell at defensive tackle/DE looked pretty strong. He got off blocks, had a half a sack. Jace Gilbert at DE is getting better too.
  • Ike Ezeguo concerns me. That was a game where a quality big 12 D lineman has 3 sacks. He had numerous sacks just slip out of his hands. One on play he attempted to tackle the QB (who he is 100 pounds heavier than) and the QB of theirs breaks a tackle, tough look
  • The front 7 of the defense - I thought they made a pretty good Sunbelt QB look like RG III from Baylor. They have to tighten up and I think that starts with Willich getting healthy again, Kooper Ebel getting back to being dominant as he was against KSU and Iowa, and the whole LB core becoming more consistent again. I can believe they were gassed and the whole team was, difficult spot for this game.
  • Through the 1st 3 games of the season our defense is 105th in sacks. Those can make the point that "that is not what our defense is designed to do". To that I would say - when we play against the best offenses we have seen in the last two years: Kansas, Tex Tech last year, Miami last year (41 pts) ASU (45 pts) in conf championship game what did all of those games have in common? We put very little pressure on the QB into making mistakes. If I were GM of the ISU football budget which I will never be, I would spend a ton of the budget in this upcoming off season to get 2 impact Defensive Ends, linebackers, etc. If we don't have them in the pipeline we need to go portaling for them. This team could use a Willie Harvey / Marcel Spears LB, and more than that, could use a strong sack guy capable of getting 7 plus sacks a year. Weakness in the front 7 and with pass rush is going to be this teams achilles heel.
  • I do get concerned if we can't ratchet up the pressure against opposing QBs, that will just hurt us in a Big 12 championship game format (as it did against ASU). Again i'm thrilled about 4-0.

Peterson Column: Amid Uneasiness, Iowa State Football Perseveres to 4-0

Big 12 vs P4

If I'm looking at this correct Big 12 is 6-6 vs P4.
4-1 vs ACC
2-2 vs Big Ten
0-3 vs SEC

I know none of this is scientific but UCF and TCU have home games (last P4 non-conf games left) I would think they'd be favored in next week or at least split so likely going to finish 8-6 or 7-7 but doing it through dominating ACC, push with Big Ten and no SEC wins although the three SEC losses were all competitive games in the 4th quarter.

Other leagues:
ACC 3-10 (Cal beating Minn right now but not counting that yet, ACC also has a lot of late season SEC games)
Big Ten 5-4 (Cal beating Minn right now but not counting that yet)
SEC 9-2 (lot more late season ACC games)

Per team the Big Ten seems to schedule the least power conference opponents by far. The SEC and ACC actually play a lot because of all those late year rivalry games.

ROAD RECAP: No. 14 Iowa State survives Arkansas State's upset bid, 24-16

What’s a tribute performance that blows you away

This performance of Ann and Nancy Wilson covering Stairway to Heaven at the Led Zeppelin Kennedy Center Honors came across my feed again and every time I watch it (probably over 50 times now over the past 12 years) I still get chills. It’s just insanely well done and seeing Robert and Jimmy getting emotional and smiling is great. I heard Robert say this performance finally made him realize the depth and meaning of the song.

I remember watching this live and was cleaning the house and stopped in my tracks and stood there seven minutes in awe.

What are some of your favorite tribute performances?

Insurance Gurus: Umbrella Policies?

Long story short, when our older daughter started driving years ago I purchased an umbrella policy to go along with our comprehensive auto coverage. I'm a peace-of-mind guy and teens do stupid things. Then a handful of years ago, younger daughter got into a car accident, more than a fender-bender but everyone walked away fine, no one was taken to hospital or anything, I actually drove her car home. Maybe 6-12 months later, I'm being sued and they're going for my coverage limit, well over $1 million, possibly more according to their attorney.

This thing hung over me for 2+ years and was a daily source of anxiety. My question... in your experience, do umbrella policies just make you a target for stupidly large lawsuits if/when something like this happens and you're liable? I understand if something happens and I'm liable and the damages are clearly over the $250k bodily injury liability that an umbrella protects me beyond that. But how common is it for people like me... not wealthy, don't have significant assets beyond some home equity and retirement savings... to be sued above and beyond their coverage limit? Maybe it is. I don't know. I've just wondered if my stress levels would've been better off without the umbrella.
