Was anyone else impressed with that Tre Bell interception yesterday? Good Lord! Man, he put on the extra jets to beat the man he was covering to the ball by a couple paces and made an incredible diving catch. That was a big play and snuffed out Arkansas State's chances.

I've watched him exclusively on a couple plays while at JTS, and he looks really good. The tackle he made in the Iowa game for a loss was filthy and that interception yesterday. We may have another one of these two-sport athletes who decides to get serious at football late in his career and becomes a next-level NFL type guy. He's certainly made some eye-popping plays so far and seems to be getting better at coverage every week. Exciting.

Except for the whole trying to flip the ball up in the air to himself at the end. That could have been bad if done wrong.

It reminded me of the players that drop the ball as they cross the goal line, and accidentally do it a step too soon.
Yeah he showed why he is a DB and not a WR. Great hands on the interception. Not so great hands on the flip to himself.

It’s a bye week. Who’s going to start another “Future NFL Draft Picks” thread?

Because Bell should be on it, though that’s probably the ‘27 Draft.

Yes, most impressive play of the game. And the flipping the ball part, its college, he's down as soon as his butt hits the ground.

No. What a misuse of that expression.

That’s a hell of a play on the ball and catch for a WR, let alone DB. I’m not sure our WRs right now could make it

Just as many WR celebrate a bit too early in college. Given it was a catch, it technically was not too early

Amazing play.

Just an absolutely amazing individual effort! We are a developmental program and we focus on quality versus quantity in the portal. Hard to argue with this staff’s scouting abilities.
Probably overplayed a bit but.... good learning opportunity, coaches probably got on his a** about it already.

You are absolutely right. When he made it, I said I wish our receivers could make that type of catch. Receivers need to spend a lot of time working on contested catches during the off week.

What on earth are some of you watching and complaining about? He wasn’t celebrating trying to “flip the ball to himself.” He was holding the ball up to the ref in the classic “I caught it move” as receivers and DBs often do and it slipped out of his hands.

What could have gone wrong with it? He had it, and it was a dead ball because he was on the ground.

Great catch but in hindsight might have been better if he didn't catch it. ISU went 3 and out and Arky had slightly better field position. It would have been 3rd and long if it was dropped.

It looked to me like he was showing the ball to the refs and and it slipped out of his hand.

Yeah the play was dead at that point which was why they didn't count the fumble.

He wasn't doing that but why?

The play was dead at that point after he'd slid for a bit with ball secured.

If it weren't they would have counted it as a fumble.

Yes, you are all right that the play was dead and they ruled it a catch.

All I'm saying is if he hadn't had totally secured the ball (i.e. replay takes a look at the play and sees it slightly moving as he falls to the ground) and then the ball flys up like it did, whether intentional or not, now it's not a completed catch.

Especially in a game like yesterday where things weren't going great, I wouldn't want to take any chances. Secure the catch and don't let the ball come flying out of your hands.
