What’s a tribute performance that blows you away

This performance of Ann and Nancy Wilson covering Stairway to Heaven at the Led Zeppelin Kennedy Center Honors came across my feed again and every time I watch it (probably over 50 times now over the past 12 years) I still get chills. It’s just insanely well done and seeing Robert and Jimmy getting emotional and smiling is great. I heard Robert say this performance finally made him realize the depth and meaning of the song.

I remember watching this live and was cleaning the house and stopped in my tracks and stood there seven minutes in awe.

What are some of your favorite tribute performances?

Insurance Gurus: Umbrella Policies?

Long story short, when our older daughter started driving years ago I purchased an umbrella policy to go along with our comprehensive auto coverage. I'm a peace-of-mind guy and teens do stupid things. Then a handful of years ago, younger daughter got into a car accident, more than a fender-bender but everyone walked away fine, no one was taken to hospital or anything, I actually drove her car home. Maybe 6-12 months later, I'm being sued and they're going for my coverage limit, well over $1 million, possibly more according to their attorney.

This thing hung over me for 2+ years and was a daily source of anxiety. My question... in your experience, do umbrella policies just make you a target for stupidly large lawsuits if/when something like this happens and you're liable? I understand if something happens and I'm liable and the damages are clearly over the $250k bodily injury liability that an umbrella protects me beyond that. But how common is it for people like me... not wealthy, don't have significant assets beyond some home equity and retirement savings... to be sued above and beyond their coverage limit? Maybe it is. I don't know. I've just wondered if my stress levels would've been better off without the umbrella.

***2025 Week 3 (Sept. 11-Sept. 13) CFB Games Thread***

Thursday Night we have an ACC Match-up: NC State @ Wake Forest

Friday Night couple of Big 12 tilts: Colorado @ Houston & K-State @ Arizona

Saturday the SEC probably has the best games: Georgia @ Tennessee, Florida @ LSU, & Texas A&M at Notre Dame.

USF @ Miami & Clemson @ Georgia Tech in the ACC should be good ones as well.

Arkansas State fan here

First of all, for anyone coming to Jonesboro, it will be HOT! So dress appropriately. Second of all, I can pretty much guarantee southern hospitality. Any ISU fan wandering around tailgate city will be offered food and drink. We are not a very good football team, especially on defense. Offensively we are sorta ok, but losing our RB1 and KR1 in the first game was devastating. Rucker is an elite WR that I am sure will be double teamed most of the game. Arkansas exposed a lot of our weaknesses on both sides of the ball. Any questions, please ask.

New Iowa State Apparel

I am always on the lookout for new ISU gear. I still need to buy a few things from the vintage WeWill collection, but I will @brentblum!

But I found this gem the other day. I actually really love this brand, even before they started their 'Gameday' collection. Both the red and black hoodies are slick, but I like the black a bit better. They sell out FAST, fyi.

On That Note: Origin Story

This week at On That Note, I want to do a topic that pays tribute to the series’ early days. OTN began as a way to inspire thoughtful music discussion. At times, it has evolved into a "key word" theme with clips. For this segment, we focus more on personal connection to the music-appreciation experience.

This week, the topic is for people to post about their music origin stories.

What all influenced your music tastes? Was it family, friends, the years in which you grew up? Your first album you remember? Album that means the most? Is there a genre you grew to like that surprised you?

Along with your recollections, post some samples of favorite songs & artists that influenced your love for a personal genre of music.

“On That Note” is presented each week on Cyclone Fanatic by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself.
