This performance of Ann and Nancy Wilson covering Stairway to Heaven at the Led Zeppelin Kennedy Center Honors came across my feed again and every time I watch it (probably over 50 times now over the past 12 years) I still get chills. It’s just insanely well done and seeing Robert and Jimmy getting emotional and smiling is great. I heard Robert say this performance finally made him realize the depth and meaning of the song.

I remember watching this live and was cleaning the house and stopped in my tracks and stood there seven minutes in awe.

What are some of your favorite tribute performances?

if this was played before a trip to the welch bars..... 2 buddies getting into a fight no doubt

Prince was a genius

I'll lead with, I love this video and I've watched dozens of times. That said, it's hard for me to say it's a tribute and not a show up by Prince when you hear the back story. Supposedly he didn't make the rehearsal or was late, so the guys had no idea what he was going to do. Prince was one strange guy.

Watch his son’s face though. He is loving it. He looks and sounds identical to George so it’s almost like George is watching it.

Yeah once upon a time I saw some comments about that and someone responded saying it was the same night Prince was inducted into the HOF and that was kind of a tough spot for him to rehearse with the rest.

They do a great rendition of The Battle Of Evermore too.

Prince might be the greatest actual musician of our lifetimes.

So this isn't a tribute that's a song of another artist, but it's a tribute TO an artist and how much their music shaped them. These sisters can singgggg. And Emmylou sitting there shedding some tears is a cool moment. Also, this song is pretty awesome in general for a folk song.

I’d enjoy an OT thread about the greatest women in rock. They are up there. Incredible two sisters were so talented so young on their first albums.
I keep refreshing to see if you're started said thread yet. :)
