Well, this sounds like one of the most Fort Dodgiest things to come out of Fort Dodge.

I have an antenna but my signal is not great in my basement even though I live in NW Ankeny close to the towers in Alleman. The antenna I have is an amplified indoor antenna and it doesn't cut out but the picture quality on Fox in particular is not that great. Is there a free streaming service to get the OTA channels on? I cut my Hulu Live subscription to save money so only live TV I get is OTA. I miss some games but it is hard to justify the cost of all the streaming stuff now. I still get channels but like I said the picture on Fox on one of my TVs (the one I watch football on the most) is not as good. It is a 4K TV and the picture on streaming is great so not a TV problem.

With Saturday not being a football day for us fans, what is everyone planning to do instead? I feel like a trip to the casino is the best way to satisfy my Saturday. Any fellow degenerates out there with similar plans?

I've been all in on PTA's latest movie dropping next week, One Battle After Another. He's a director I don't care what he does, I'll be seeing it opening weekend. Tickets already bought for next Thursday. Magnolia is a top three movie in history for me.

While I thought this looked really good, I wasn't under the impression that it would hit like some of his all-timers like Magnolia, Boogie Nights, and There Will Be Blood.

I was wrong. Reviews are out, and on Metacritic, it's AVERAGING a score of 97 out of 100 with 31 top critics reviews. That is...basically unheard of for any movie in any genre. Anything average over a 90 is incredible with 30+ reviews in.

If you know the backstory, this movie is a re-telling of the famous Pynchon novel Vineland. Which...given the times we are in, will resonate for many I'm sure.

After this screened, it's shot up basically every Oscar predictor's list as the Best Picture winner.

Since 1997, the Iowa Hawkeyes volleyball team has beaten Iowa State once. That single victory occurred on September 11, 2015, when Iowa won a four-set match against the Cyclones in Iowa City. I was there I am staying away from this one to not jinx us again.

This news came out in march but I didn’t see a thread on it. Coastal Carolina offers free hotdogs, nachos, popcorn, and fountain drinks at their football games. Limit on 4 items per visit but unlimited trips. Maybe I would allow JP to schedule a @coastalcarolina game in the future.

Specialty foods and alcohol still need to be paid for.

A reminder regarding tiebreaker points: If your team wins and covers you gain an extra bonus point. If you take a undefeated team who is the underdog you gain the point for them covering plus another bonus point. As the season goes on the number of teams undefeated being a underdog greatly diminish so take advantage while you can.

Taking a double digit underdog who wins gets you 3 bonus points

3 teams plays 2 FBS in this time period Fresno St. Hawaii and and Sam Houston State. If you take them before their first game they will need to win twice for you to advance.


I will be using ESPN's Lines. Line will be the line at kickoff for tiebreaker points.


Bringing back the reward for top finisher other than bragging rights. Since this is a contest on Cyclone Fanatic I like the idea of the reward going back to helping ISU athletics.

Hey great props to the ISU ath dept for allowing more retro and alternative logos to work into the rotation. Overdue. Hope that continues with other logos. Keep it fun out there.

Now, look, it happens to all of us. The sagginess. The cursive logo is old and maybe it needs a facelift. See how the cursive S on the end is way droopier than the C? Gonna need to rotate this sucker a bit to the left or lift up the "..nes" to align higher with the bottom of the C and y. This has always bothered me but I'm probably the crazy one.

While we're at it, can we please get rid of the oppressive vintage stamps. No other school does this. Please don't mar the fancy retro logos.

This is a really cool fungus that smells like poop or a something dead, which attracts beetles and flies which then help to disperse its spores.

It looks like something else, too...can't quite place it, though.

We need to change the tone on here a little. When was the last time you had a really nice surprise? The Friday before the Iowa game I was down in the basement watching the Chiefs game in the man cave when our daughter called and they were having trouble in the upstairs bathroom and the toilet was leaking all over the place and she needed help. Have to say I was pissed, we told her to find the valve and shut off the water and we would be right over, here I was hoping to have a nice quiet night at home and watch the Chiefs and now I am fixing a toilet. We drive over, I make my way upstairs, go into the first bathroom thinking the granddaughters had plugged it up, and they are telling me "no, its in mom's bathroom." So I walk in and standing in the bathroom are our two sons, they had flown in from Dallas and S. Carolina to go to the game with me. I have to say I was in shock seeing them, plus they had beer, my wife was dumbfounded seeing our sons standing there. We went back home watched the chiefs, got up bright and early to see the Cy/hawk win and then we had to have them back in DM at 4 Sunday morning to get on their flights back home. Just a great surprise and with all the crap we have been through this summer, I needed a little pick up my spirits moment like this. Anyone else have something nice happen to them lately,
