yeah, like winning, according to some people.
:biglaugh:
That's funny. Winning is great as long as it's not at all costs. Winning with integrity is the sweetest nectar.

Keep dreaming

I'm an optimist. I always think next season is the season. Check out who I cheer for.
Yay, more "we have to give up integrity to win" posts. I love those.![]()
Thanks for that...posts are much more enjoyable to read.
So you think there is such a thing as a clean winner?
Yes. I think we can win with integrity.
win what? a few games here and there?
Hey, if you want to argue in favor of Iowa State abandoning honor and integrity, go right ahead, that's your right.
But don't ******* tell me I HAVE to abandon them. It's my right to desire integrity and honor in my alma mater.
He could come in and lose and then we'd have an even worse situation. Also, you're not going to build a stable program with a guy like BG. He'll be gone win or lose in 3-4 seasons. We'd have to go through another coaching hire.

There are lots of things that are worse than losing.
Where did I '******* tell you that you HAVE to abandon them'?
You didn't but Bawbie takes everything to the extreme
I understand where you are going with that. I just fear that if we "stay the course" with a guy who hasn't had a winning season in the 4 years he has been at ISU that the only course we will be running is what team to cheer for come March because our teams season is over prematurely..... again.
I think at some point you have to take risks.
The stability/keep GMAC crowd has an answer for everything....
Let's hire a hot mid major coach? A: Well that is what GMAC was so why change.
Should we go after an assistant from a big time program? A: They wouldn't come to a program like ISU and if they wanted to we couldn't afford them.
Maybe we should go after BG? A: He may be a great coach but he has had trouble in his past which surely means he will be a disaster here.
Maybe we should call Steve Lavin? A: His hair has too much oil on it. He would never "fit" in here.
Maybe we should call Jay Wright just to feel his interest and see what prospects he thinks would be good candidates? A: He will never take the job, we can't afford him, he would never go to a program like ISU, why do we care who he thinks would be good candidates, etc....
Who would be a good candidate for ISU's job? A: We have a coach, GMAC won't be fired, give GMAC more time, GMAC's contract isn't up, Nobody better then GMAC will want the job, We can't get anyone better, etc.....
ENOUGH EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!
There are only 2 explanations for the excuses....
1. You love GMAC too much to admit he has failed and needs to be replaced.
2. You are afraid of change and the risk of making a change.
The bottom line is that both of those explanations are flawed. #1 you should never love a coach more then the program. A great guy that loses is still a loser at the end of the day. Being a great guy doesn't guarantee success. #2 if you aren't willing to take risks and make changes and do bold things then you need to just be satisfied with the results that you are seeing right now. Expect more losing seasons, mid major recruits, player defections, cellar finishes in the BIG XII, and an empty Hilton.
